MTM spot widespread REE at Pomme

MTM spot widespread REE at Pomme

MTM Critical Minerals has identified visual rare earth mineralisation in every one of its 13-hole maiden diamond drilling program over its Pomme rare earth and niobium project in Quebec.

The early results indicate a very large mineralised system within the project’s carbonatite complex, hosted over an area greater than two square kilometres.

Visuals indicate that the program intersected numerous zones of higher-grade rare earth and niobium mineralisation, with the most prospective parts of the complex slated for a follow-up in future campaigns.

Preliminary interpretation suggests high-grade mineralisation is best developed in a ring structure surrounding a core zone, with several parts remaining untested by the drill.

MTM Managing Director Lachlan Reynolds said that geologically, the company was beginning to confirm details of the most prospective parts of the complex.

“Large areas remain untested by the reconnaissance drilling, which is currently on a very broad grid spacing of approximately 500m by 500m. We are now keenly awaiting the detailed assay results, which we are confident will indicate numerous zones of higher-grade rare earth and niobium mineralisation,” Mr Reynolds said.

He added that the MTM exploration strategy is to discover zones of around 1.5 per cent or greater TREO grade, similar to intercepts from the original hole which tested the carbonatite and the nearby Montviel deposit.

“These zones could ultimately form the basis to a significant resource. Our exploration team will now commence work to merge the geological logs, assay results and geophysical data in order to define high priority areas for further follow up,” he added.

“The Company will also assess whether any zones of the mineralisation should be collected for preliminary metallurgical test work.”

Forward plan

Sampling and assays are now underway, with results to come out over the coming weeks as geological logging and sampling of the diamond core continues on-site.

Once the assays are released, the MTM geological team will begin a full interpretation of the complex to determine the controls on mineralisation and evaluate the best areas for follow-up, and the company will consider selection of mineralised zones for preliminary metallurgy work.
