Cazaly (ASX:CAZ) spinning up at Sundown Lithium
September 4, 2023Fire bans have lifted, and Cazaly Resources will soon be on the ground and in the air at Sundown for the first lithium exploration campaign over its large James Bay landholdings in Quebec.
The helicopter supported exploration campaign will begin mid-September, covering a 260 square kilometre landholding with over 200 outcropping pegmatites untested for lithium mineralisation in prime territory between Allkem’s James Bay deposit and a Patriot Battery Metals Corvette discovery established as the largest of its kind in North America.
Large clusters of potential outcrops with exposures up to 1.5 kilometres long have been targeted and prioritised for sampling, and Cazaly Managing Director Tara French said the company was very excited to test pegmatites of the Gladman suite, recently identified as a new prospective zone for lithium.
“This is what we have been waiting for! The access restrictions were lifted across our property last weekend and our in-country team are ready to execute this very important initial reconnaissance program,” Ms French said.
“This will be the first time any of the +200 pegmatites on the property have been sampled for lithium.”
The program will include rock chip sampling, and geological mapping, with initial fieldwork critical for fact-checking datasets and optimising Cazaly’s targeting.
James Bay lithium
Major mining companies are now following the juniors and making their entry into James Bay are following in after the small cap companies, Rio has entered an agreement to acquire ten properties with lithium potential, and lithium titan Albermarle swiftly became Patriot’s largest shareholder after revealing its maiden resource.
It appears that the cheapest way for major producers to find lithium units is with the drill, and Cazaly is now ready for its own exploration nestled between the preeminent assets of one of the world’s most exciting exploration frontiers.
