Lunnon Metals (ASX:LM8) closes in on open pit gold prize at Lady Herial

April 17, 2025 Off By MarketOpen

As the gold price tests record territory in Australian dollar terms, Lunnon Metals (ASX: LM8) is wasting no time fast-tracking its Lady Herial discovery from drill hole to potential open pit.

The emerging explorer has wrapped up what it says will be the final round of drilling at the prospect, situated within its broader Kambalda Gold & Nickel Project, paving the way for its first Mineral Resource Estimate and an application to commence mining.

Highlights

  • Final drill campaign delivers shallow, thick and high-grade intercepts including: • 13m @ 10.29g/t gold from 19m
    • 27m @ 4.01g/t from surface
    • 19m @ 5.37g/t from 16m

  • 2,148m of close-spaced reverse circulation (RC) drilling completed over 78 holes

  • Deposit located on granted mining leases near established processing plants

  • Maiden Mineral Resource and regulatory approvals now underway

“Yet again! Another job well (and safely) done by Blue Spec Drilling and our small but dedicated site team,” said Managing Director Edmund Ainscough. “In under a year we have taken Lady Herial from first drill hole right the way through to having the deposit almost completely drilled out and ready for regulatory approval”.

The latest RC program targeted the Lady Herial Upper, Middle and Lower Structures, intersecting consistent high-grade mineralisation at shallow depths.

Intercepts such as 13m @ 10.29g/t gold (LDH25RC_095) and 27m @ 4.01g/t (LDH25RC_088) continue to build confidence in the geological model, which remains open down-plunge to the northwest.

Importantly, Lady Herial sits on granted mining leases in the historic Foster gold belt, a zone that has seen limited gold-focused exploration due to its legacy as a nickel production hub.

The project is strategically located near Gold Fields’ St Ives plant and other regional processing options, which Lunnon intends to leverage as part of its development plan.

Drill density in this campaign also meets grade control standards — a move that positions the company to potentially proceed straight to production following approvals.

Geotechnical and metallurgical work is ongoing, with results to feed into open pit optimisation.

The company will then enter a 90-day exclusive negotiation window with Gold Fields Ltd to explore commercial terms for future gold production.

From greenfield to near-development in under 12 months, Lunnon Metals Lady Herial is fast emerging as a textbook example of how shallow high-grade gold, favourable geology, and existing infrastructure can combine to create a low-risk pathway to production.

With the gold price providing a tailwind, Lunnon appears poised to seize a short-cycle opportunity in one of Australia’s most prolific mining camps.
