WIN Metals (ASX:WIN) muscles up at Butchers Creek with high-grade resource upgrade
April 16, 2025 Off By MarketOpenIn a gold market hungry for quality ounces, WIN Metals (ASX:WIN) has emerged with a sharply upgraded resource at its Butchers Creek project in Western Australia’s East Kimberley — and the timing couldn’t be better.
Following its maiden drill campaign late last year, the company has lifted the total resource to 5.23 million tonnes at 1.91g/t gold for 321,000 ounces.
Critically, 80% of this resource — 258,000 ounces at 2.24g/t — now sits in the Indicated category, an 86% jump that significantly enhances development confidence.
“This paves the way for the Company to advance development studies while we continue to drill our other high-priority, high-grade targets,” said Managing Director Steve Norregaard.
Highlights:
-
Indicated resources jump 86%: now 3.58Mt @ 2.24g/t Au for 258koz
-
Low-cost development pathway: mineralisation sits directly below the historic pit
-
Exploration upside: Golden Crown target returned 6m @ 10.85g/t Au
-
Project de-risked: refined geological modelling improves confidence
With a favourable location near Halls Creek, previous mining history, and accessible mineralisation, Butchers Creek is quickly evolving from dormant asset to development contender.
Originally mined in the 1990s before gold prices stalled, the site includes legacy infrastructure and is supported by historical recoveries of up to 96%.
WIN Metals 2024 field campaign incorporated 15 drill holes from the previous operator and 15 new holes of its own.
The updated model now captures additional high-grade domains and includes a new structural interpretation known as the Western Synform, which could host further ounces.
Norregaard added, “The significant achievements by WIN during the short time we have held this project, and the opportunities we see in this underexplored goldfield in WA’s Kimberley region, provide a strong foundation for our future growth.”
A heritage survey is scheduled for April ahead of a July drill program focused on the Golden Crown deposit, which already boasts an Inferred resource of 0.4Mt at 3.1g/t Au.
It’s all part of a broader growth strategy in one of Australia’s most historic yet underexplored goldfields.
For a company that only recently acquired the project, WIN is making quick work of the turnaround — and building a compelling case for near-term gold development.
