Strickland Metals (ASX:STK) unveils spectacular gold discovery in Serbia
August 5, 2024 Off By MarketOpenStrickland Metals Limited (ASX:STK) has announced a groundbreaking discovery at its 100%-owned Rogozna Gold and Base Metals Project in Serbia.
The first hole drilled at the Shanac deposit has yielded the strongest gold mineralisation ever encountered at the site, with an impressive intercept of 89.7 meters grading 4.0 grams per tonne (g/t) gold (Au), including a high-grade section of 24.1 meters at 10.5 g/t Au.
This discovery not only validates Strickland Metals geological model but also significantly enhances the potential of the existing 4.6 million-ounce (Moz) gold equivalent (Au Eq) resource at Rogozna.
Highlights of the Discovery: Strickland’s drilling campaign at the Shanac deposit, a part of the Rogozna Project, has returned spectacular results that underscore the project’s immense potential.
The initial drill hole, ZRSD24149, intersected multiple zones of strong mineralisation.
The most notable intercepts include:
- Zone 1: Epithermal Gold-Lead-Zinc-Silver
- 50.4 meters at 0.5 g/t Au, 1.5% Pb, 0.2% Zn, and 41 g/t Ag from 162.3 meters, including 10 meters at 0.4 g/t Au, 4.9% Pb, 0.6% Zn, and 135 g/t Ag from 186.3 meters.
- Zone 2: Gold Skarn
- 89.7 meters at 4.0 g/t Au from 244.5 meters, including 24.1 meters at 10.5 g/t Au from 296.2 meters.
- Zone 3: Copper-Gold-Magnetite Skarn
- 109.25 meters at 1.3 g/t Au, 0.4% Cu, 0.3% Pb, 0.5% Zn, and 8.0 g/t Ag (2.5 g/t Au Eq) from 349.0 meters, including 12.1 meters at 2.8 g/t Au, 1.1% Cu, and 11.0 g/t Ag (4.9 g/t Au Eq) from 400 meters.
This impressive drill hole has provided a far greater understanding of the geological controls on a higher-grade “Central Domain,” which Strickland believes is key to unlocking further high-grade mineralisation within the Shanac deposit. With follow-up drilling planned to commence shortly, the potential for further discoveries remains high.
Strickland Metals Managing Director Paul L’Herpiniere, said, “These results from the first hole drilled by Strickland at Shanac this year are phenomenal! Our strategy for Shanac has been to target the higher-grade zones of the deposit to upgrade the 4.6Moz Au Eq inferred resource. Not only did we discover the highest gold grades ever encountered at the Rogozna Project, but we also encountered extensive copper-gold mineralisation further down the hole, with an ~109m long interval containing 1.3g/t Au with 0.4% Cu, including multiple zones of massive chalcopyrite, with assays up to 11% Cu.”
Strickland Metals’ discovery at the Rogozna Project represents a significant milestone for the company, potentially transforming the Shanac deposit into a world-class gold resource.
As exploration continues, Strickland is well-positioned to further define and expand this remarkable discovery, solidifying its place as a leading player in the mining industry.
