Maximus (ASX:MXR) spot more metals at Misho
April 20, 2023Maximus Resources have intersected disseminated nickel-bearing sulphides at the basal contact of the newly discovered Misho prospect, confirming a komatiite channel bearing the metal-rich compound as the company awaits assays from its RC campaign just 25 kilometres away from BHP’s Kambalda Nickel Concentrator in Western Australia.
Initial results from a first pass Air-Core campaign surpassed expectations, intersecting shallow and high-grade nickel, copper and platinum group mineralisation, and the remaining assays have now confirmed the presence of a fertile basal contact stretching for 150 metres.
Maximus Managing Director Tim Wither said following the reveal of high-grade nickel at its new discovery, it had quickly launched the RC program to test for sulphides beneath the elevated intersections.
“The RC drill programme focused on the apex of the known magnetic flexure, which is interpreted to be the bottom of the komatiite channel. The shallow RC drilling at Misho has encouragingly intersected several occurrences of disseminated pyrrhotite and pentlandite sulphide minerals,” he said.
“It is early days in the exploration journey at Misho, but the presence of thick high magnesium komatiites with widespread occurrences of shallow disseminated sulphide mineralisation is a positive indication of the system’s fertility and potential for massive nickel sulphide accumulations nearby.”
While Maximus continues to build gold resources and advance towards production, it would be remiss not to continue investigating a highly prospective tenement package along strike from lucrative deposits, remaining underexplored for nickel with previous exploration coming through times of lesser demand.
Next steps:
Assays from the RC program are expected to come in four to six weeks alongside remaining results from multi-target AC drilling on other gold and nickel targets, the results set to be used with modelling from a completed downhole electromagnetic survey into a potentially combined drilling campaign.
