Lunnon Metals (ASX:LM8) eyes Koombana and Hustler as next gold resource contenders

Lunnon Metals (ASX:LM8) is advancing its gold strategy in the Kambalda district, with high-grade surface sampling at the Koombana and Hustler prospects providing fresh momentum across the Foster Baker Gold Belt.

The company’s recent results highlight previously overlooked mineralisation potential and reinforce confidence in the geological model guiding its exploration efforts.

Managing Director Edmund Ainscough says the latest fieldwork supports the view that Koombana and Hustler could play a central role in the company’s next phase of gold resource development.

“The surface sampling program at Koombana and Hustler returned a suite of high-grade gold results, including standout assays such as 20.47g/t, 19.36g/t, 13.98g/t, and 13.05g/t Au,” Ainscough said.

Samples were collected from historical workings and outcrops, confirming that both areas remain highly prospective and may host untested gold mineralisation.

These results support Lunnon Metals interpretation that the mineralised system identified at Lady Herial extends further into surrounding ground.

In addition to strong gold grades, the program identified a previously unrecognised linking structure at Hustler, which may have a material impact on how future drilling is designed.

According to Ainscough, understanding these controlling structures is critical for defining high-grade targets more effectively.

“One of the key objectives of the surface program was to better define controlling structures, and this linking feature at Hustler achieves just that,” he said. “By factoring this structure into our future drill design, we can target more effectively and optimise our expenditure.”

Koombana and Hustler are located along strike from Lady Herial and are hosted within the same gold favourable rock unit, Zone 4 of the Defiance Dolerite.

Early indications point to shallow, stacked mineralisation and localised grade variability, features that are consistent with Lady Herial, which currently hosts a 29,000 ounce JORC compliant Mineral Resource.

Ainscough believes the geological parallels are meaningful.

“This geological consistency provides a solid basis for Koombana and Hustler to emerge as the next contributors to our gold resource inventory, particularly given the early grades identified in surface sampling.”

The company is preparing to drill both prospects, with programs aimed at defining the extent and continuity of the mineralisation seen at surface.

The Hustler structure will be a key focus, alongside follow up on the high-grade zones identified at Koombana.

This work will proceed alongside ongoing permitting efforts at Lady Herial, allowing Lunnon to advance several gold targets in parallel.

“These programs will aim to define the continuity and geometry of mineralisation observed at surface… while we also continue advancing permitting at Lady Herial.”

All three prospects sit within the Foster Baker Gold Belt, part of the company’s broader Kambalda Gold and Nickel Project.

Despite the belt’s location in the highly endowed St Ives district, it has seen relatively limited gold exploration in the past.

Ainscough sees the Foster Baker corridor as an underexplored asset, with Lady Herial representing only the beginning of a much larger opportunity.

“Now these results at Koombana and Hustler demonstrate that other areas within this belt are equally capable of delivering high-grade discoveries,” he said. “We are confident this is just the beginning of a broader resource growth story.”

Lunnon has identified five distinct gold belt categories across its tenement package.

The strategy now is to systematically test those areas with a combination of structural mapping, surface sampling, and targeted drilling.

If successful, this work could lead to a pipeline of shallow, high-grade gold resources that complement the company’s nickel position at Kambalda.
