White Cliff (ASX:WCN) gets Canadian greenlight for yellowcake field season at Radium Point

White Cliff Minerals’ exploration plans have been signed off by the Canadian government, with the company standing exploration-ready over 2900 square kilometres of large-scale iron-oxide-copper-gold, silver, and uranium-enriched ground in the Northwest Territories.

All federal exploration licences are in place in Canada, with imminent exploration efforts now able to cover both Radium Point and highly prospective copper and silver occurrences across the border at the explorer’s Coppermine project in the Nunavut territory.

And Australian explorer White Cliff is also covering ground at home-state assets, with extension-testing drilling on a 42,400-ounce gold resource in the books at Reedy South near the Cue region of Western Australia.

A geochemical campaign is also nearing completion for gold and lithium across its Lake Tay project near Lake Johnston and on prospective gold, nickel, copper, lithium, and rare earth territory at Diemals in the Southern Cross area of the sandgroper state.

But with a rich production history and within an area noted by the Northwest Territories Geological Survey as being Canada’s most fertile for IOCG-uranium, Radium Point appears the headliner for the Perth-based company.

White Cliff Managing Director Troy Whittaker said the final granting marked the last phase of applications and the milestone where it can fully transform to exploration ready in the Great White North.

“Significant preparatory works are now either complete or underway for the upcoming summer field season in Canada where we are excited to deploy our teams on-ground,” Whittaker said.

“Our initial focus at Radium Point and Nunavut projects in Canada will be infield rock chip sampling, reconnaissance, and the airborne MobileMT geophysical survey.”

Whittaker said those efforts would be followed by a much anticipated maiden drill campaign to follow on with its Australian efforts.

“Our focus at Reedy South in Western Australia was to identify potential expansions to the known JORC resource,” he said. “With this campaign now concluded and those assays at the laboratory, we look forward to the results.”

A decline in the silver price put a pause on Radium Point area’s production in the 1980s, and while some modern exploration was active in the early 2000s, several discovered mineral occurrences were never really followed up.

And with the risk appetite of the Toronto Stock Exchange being sated by cannabis stocks through later years, much of Canada’s sparse but mineral-rich territory sat idle.

White Cliff saw a lot of good historic data ready to be integrated with modern techniques and a better academic understanding of the deposits of the area’s Great Bear Magmatic Zone.

The old datasets proved to be high quality, and White Cliff’s efforts have since yielded multiple high-grade targets offering extensions to the region’s past-exploited deposits, now standing ready for field season.
