Venture Minerals have eyed large-scale tin and boron at its flagship Tasmanian Mount Lindsay project, potentially boosting its fame as one of the world’s largest tin deposits.

The borate minerals containing large quantities of the pricy elements have shown up throughout the project area’s numerous skarns.

Venture Managing Director Andrew Radonjic said there is scope to extract large volumes of versatile and technologically in-demand metalloids.

“In addition to being a significant tin-tungsten deposit, Mount Lindsay also has the potential to be a large-scale Boron project, similar to producing projects in China and Russia, particularly when you consider the multitude of targets outside the Main and No.2 Skarns containing significant quantities of Boron with Tin and Iron,” Mr Radonjic said.

“The Company will now look to define the process of extracting the Boron along with the other already proven Critical Minerals Tin and Tungsten. Venture looks forward to continuing to advance its feasibility studies and delivering results at its flagship Mount Lindsay Project over the coming months,” he added.

Exploration for boron has been rising in tune with demand in recent years.

Already known for varied use in the electronics, energy and agriculture industries, the development of new technologies has expanded the potential uses of an element with limited supply and reserves cornered within the borders of scant few nations.

A partnership with CSIRO will explore metallurgical recovery work to include the tin-borate mix in its upcoming feasibility study.
