Summit (ASX:SUM) shows James Bay-style potential at Castor
August 17, 2023Summit Minerals remote sensing study at its Castor lithium project on the doorstep of huge recent discoveries by nearby companies in the prolific James Bay area, Quebec, Canada.
Castor includes known spodumene-bearing pegmatites in the southwest section of pegmatites spanning 33km along Yasinski Lake Greenstone Belt.
The primary pegmatite trend runs parallel to this boundary and east-west from Patriot Battery Metals’ Corvette Project.
It is located on the same greenstone belt as Ophir Gold’s Radis Project, where lithium has recently been discovered.
It extends 18km in the same direction and is approximately 32km from Q2 Metals’ Mia Lithium Project. It is situated about 30 to 50 km west of the boundary between the La Grande and Opinaca Subprovinces.
It continues through Winsome Resources’ Cancet Project, turning southwest proximate to the Castor Project.
Detailed satellite and radar analysis shows significant promise of extending the fertile cell detecting over 100 new targets.
Summit Exploration Manager Jonothan King said the study has greatly assisted target ranking and exploration fast-tracking.
“The application of remote sensing techniques at Castor has culminated in identifying multiple targets, including interpreted outcropping pegmatites and potential pegmatite-bearing structures,” Mr King said.
