Stellar (ASX:SRZ) strike a multi-metal discovery at North Scamander
September 19, 2023Stellar Resources‘ maiden drill hole into its North Scamander Project has returned heavy intervals of silver, tin, zinc, lead, indium, and gallium, confirming a significant polymetallic discovery in northeast Tasmania.
The 32.0m @ 141 g/t Ag, 0.34% Sn, 3.8% Zn, 2.0% Pb, 77 g/t In and 19 g/t Ga strike from 130.0m came with individual results as high as 1,035 g/t Ag, 5.75% Sn, 27.6% Zn, 21.2% Pb, 1,070 g/t In and 37 g/t Ga.
The discovery bears similarities with the polymetallic systems of the world-class Bolivian Tin Belt and the heady grade of indium compares favourably with established indium and base metal deposits.
“The outstanding results returned from our maiden drill hole demonstrates the huge potential yet to be unlocked at North Scamander, and we look forward to growing our understanding of this new discovery which complements our already significant tin Mineral Resource inventory at our flagship Heemskirk Tin Project,” Stellar Executive Director Gary Fietz said.
“We are delighted with these results and are already planning for a downhole electromagnetic survey to be completed next month with the results to assist with follow-up drill testing of this exciting target as soon as practicable.”
Forward plan
A downhole electromagnetic survey at the project is planned for next month as Stellar begin plotting its next round of drilling, with petrological and mineralogical studies planned to identify and understand the deportment of all key metals.
The company see North Scamander being prospective for multiple styles of mineralisation, but a high-grade polymetallic vein and breccia-hosted system indicated by the maiden hole will be the immediate priority.
There is also potential for stockwork-hosted copper mineralisation coincident with the untested main magnetic anomaly and Greisen-style Sn-Li mineralisation.
Stellar earlier this month increased its indicated tin resource at Heemskirk by almost a quarter and the substantial lift is expected to support a pre-feasibility study over its collection of deposits the company believe stand as the highest-grade undeveloped tin project in the nation.
