Maximus (ASX:MXR) finish a twin commodity campaign at Spargoville
October 5, 2023RC drilling at the Hilditch Gold and Kandui Nickel prospects has encountered encouraging geology along strike and beneath known mineralisation at both prospects, putting a bow on Maximus Resources‘ latest campaign across its large Spargoville landholdings.
Drilling at Hilditch was directed at bolstering its shallow gold resources and exploring for a fourth gold-bearing lode after the recent return of shallow and high-grade intercepts which successfully identified two previously undiscovered lodes.
Nickel mineralisation had already been identified at Kandui, and five completed holes were designed to test the potential plunge of several higher-grade nickel zones, with another three aimed at scouting out a geochemical anomaly.
Several observed zones at the targeted depths validated the geological interpretation, and Maximus now has a proven approach to finding key pathfinder elements and generating targets in the most prospective areas of its Spargoville tenements.
And the Adelaide-based explorer has been using it, with targeted nickel-copper-gold-PGE soil mapping across several prospective ultramafic horizons successfully identifying more priority targets for follow up.
Previous exploration for nickel relied heavily on EM surveys that often pointed towards an abundance of conductive sediments, and Maximus will keep using its techniques to refine the delineation of fertile basal contact positions and nickel targets over a more extensive area.
Assays from the latest campaign are now due within four to six weeks as Maximus plot its next round of drilling.
