Kingsland (ASX:KNG) launch maiden drilling at Leliyn
May 9, 2023Kingsland Minerals have maiden drilling underway, with results earmarked as part of a maiden resource from the high-grade graphite sitting unearthed within its Leliyn Project in Australia’s Northern Territory.
It is a massive program for a colossal exploration target, with 3200 metres of combined RC and diamond drilling to begin unlocking a target for up to 27Mt of contained graphite.
“We believe there is significant potential at Leliyn. We know there is high-quality graphite within the 20km-long graphitic schist and we are looking forward to testing its full potential with this drilling program.” – Kinsland Managing Director Richard Maddocks
The Target is based on just a quarter of a 20-kilometre-long outcropping graphitic schist discovered at Leliyn. The initial program aims to confirm grade and thickness alongside core samples for metallurgical test work.
The hunt for Australian graphite is underway; a supply imbalance looms large on the lithium-ion battery industry and global powers are looking for new sources of the critical mineral essential to electrification ambitions.
Kingsland expects its first assays to come in from early July. The company is plotting additional drilling to upgrade a hefty exploration target into a mineral resource.
