HyTerra (ASX:HYT) shows natural hydrogen promise at Hoarty wildcat well
April 3, 2023HyTerra has successfully lowered the water level of its landmark Hoarty NE3 well in Nebraska, delivering one of the most critical insights of a pioneering program into the extractability of natural hydrogen – holding the potential to disrupt global energy production.
The enthusiasm for natural hydrogen as an alternative to the problematic production of commercial hydrogen is steadily increasing.
HyTerra is potentially pursuing a sizable resource for the taking, giving the experienced oil and gas industry drillers a new, environmentally friendly mission.
“The testing activities have already produced key technical insights consistent with HyTerra’s geological model and petrophysical interpretations and have enhanced our understanding of natural hydrogen exploration,” Executive Director Avon McIntyre said.
“The initial observations are encouraging, and we are eagerly working with the Operator to resume operations and obtain conclusive testing results.”
The continuing extended flow test is hoped to provide critical information for defining a recoverable resource’s size, extent, gas composition, and commercial potential.
Meanwhile, a review of preliminary data is expected to provide another operational update this month.
