Cauldron Energy (ASX:CXU) rockets on high-grade uranium discovery at Manyingee South
September 11, 2024 Off By MarketOpenCauldron Energy (ASX:CXU) has announced a significant uranium discovery at its Manyingee South prospect, which lies just 4.5 kilometres south of Paladin Energy’s (ASX:PDN) globally renowned Manyingee deposit.
The results from the first four drill holes have confirmed the presence of broad, high-grade uranium mineralisation, demonstrating the project’s potential to add to Western Australia’s uranium portfolio.
Key Highlights:
- Broad uranium intercepts along a 1.5 km strike at Manyingee South, with grades up to 789 ppm.
- Strong geological similarities to Paladin’s Manyingee deposit.
- The Yanrey project covers 80 km of prospective terrain, with significant potential for further discoveries.
Each of the four drill holes has intersected substantial uranium grades, defining a continuous 1.5 km mineralised strike length, which remains open in all directions.
Highlights include a standout intercept of 5.90 metres at 374 ppm eU₃O₈, with a higher-grade section of 1.20 metres at 789 ppm eU₃O₈ in drill hole 24YRAC048.
These findings are particularly promising, considering the proximity to Paladin’s deposit and the apparent similarities in the mineralisation systems.
Cauldron Energy CEO, Jonathan Fisher, expressed confidence in the potential scale of this new discovery, stating, “This first set of holes into the Manyingee South target area have returned exactly the type of results we were looking for – broad intercepts, high grade, and when taking into account the historical holes drilled in the area, [they] demonstrate a new discovery at Manyingee South; so far continuous over 1.5km along strike.”
These results indicate that the Manyingee South mineralisation mirrors the roll-front type found at Paladin’s deposit, with mineralisation occurring at stacked redox boundaries, a hallmark of high-grade uranium deposits.
Cauldron’s broader exploration strategy at the Yanrey project focuses on unlocking the region’s uranium potential, with 22 high-priority targets identified across an 80 km stretch of ancient coastline, positioning the company to discover further deposits within this highly prospective region.
“This represents the most exciting results to date from our current drill campaign,” Fisher added, “and provides the opportunity for a significant increase in the uranium resource at Yanrey.”
The Yanrey Uranium Project already hosts the Bennet Well deposit, which contains an estimated 30.9 million pounds of uranium oxide, confirming the area’s potential for in-situ recovery.
With these new results from Manyingee South, Cauldron Energy is taking a major step towards establishing the region as a global uranium hub.
As drilling continues along the strike at Manyingee South, the company expects to release further results that will determine the full extent of the mineralisation.
With uranium gaining renewed interest globally, Cauldron Energy’s progress could position it as a key player in Australia’s emerging uranium sector
