Asian Battery Metals (ASX:AZ9) uncovers deeper potential at Oval Cu-Ni-PGE discovery
May 6, 2025 Off By MarketOpenAsian Battery Metals (ASX:AZ9) has taken a major step forward at its Oval Cu-Ni-PGE discovery in Mongolia, with Phase 3 drilling uncovering high-grade sulphide zones and structural evidence of a deeper magmatic source.
Notably, drillhole OVD032 intersected 1.8m of high-grade sulphide, including 0.5m of semi-massive sulphide—interpreted as a potential feeder dyke.
OVD033 followed with a 28.7m net-textured sulphide interval, while OVD034 struck 1.3m of massive sulphide containing 12.0% Chalcopyrite and 74.0% Pyrrhotite.
Highlights
- High-grade zones confirmed in OVD032, OVD033 & OVD034
- Feeder dyke intercepted below existing mineralisation
- Multiple new DHEM conductive plates identified
- 1,789.6m drilled to date in current campaign
- Assays pending from late May 2025
Asian Battery Metals Managing Director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren commented:
“The results from OVD032 and the deeper part of OVD033 are a game-changer for the Oval discovery in understanding the potential pathway of the magmatic conduit.”
Looking ahead, the company will refine its understanding of the potential feeder zone using deeper-penetrating geophysical techniques, while ongoing drilling continues across priority regional targets including Copper Ridge and CR Far East.
The first batch of assay results from Phase 3 is expected in late May, which will provide crucial confirmation of the visual sulphide zones logged to date.
Asian Battery Metals is also preparing to commence a ground-based SAMSON FLEM survey to enhance targeting precision and further define the extent of the mineralised system.
These technical programs, combined with follow-up modelling of new and revised DHEM plates, are expected to shape the next wave of exploration and help unlock the broader potential of the Yambat Project.
