HyTerra (ASX:HYT) gets the lay of the land

HyTerra (ASX:HYT) gets the lay of the land

June 7, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

Emerging Australian natural hydrogen player HyTerra has completed the milestone geophysical survey over its recently acquired and wholly owned Nemaha Ridge Project in Kansas.

Interpreted data from the airborne gravity and magnetic geophysical survey will assist in refining leads and prospects and support an upcoming independent resource assessment.

Encouraging natural hydrogen testing operations at the company’s Project Geneva JV in Nebraska spurred the acquisition of another natural hydrogen play wholly owned by HyTerra, with at least 10 natural hydrogen occurrences up to 92 per cent and significant potential for large-scale production.

Aligning with US strategy

The United States has just issued its first Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap. HyTerra will be closely monitoring developments to align strategies with a nation that seeks to accelerate production, processing, delivery, storage and use of the energy source.

The first ASX-listed company to focus on natural hydrogen see its key messages moving in lockstep with the US hydrogen plan – targeting strategic, high-impact uses by reducing cost, stimulating private investment and focusing on regional networks with potential for near-term, large-scale production.

Natural hydrogen

Created from geological sources, natural hydrogen holds the raw potential to become a primary energy source as the world moves towards a low-carbon future.

There were just 70 million tonnes of hydrogen consumed in 2018, a number expected to grow eightfold to 550 million tonnes of demand by 2050, and natural hydrogen offers a path of more regular production with lower carbon impact and no reliance on strategic materials when compared to H2 generated by wind and solar.

Forward plan

With data acquisition concluded, HyTerra expect to have data on hand within six weeks to calibrate its geological mode engages further as it begins engaging advisory firms and consultants to start work on a hotly anticipated resource assessment.

HyTerra’s holds 7,586 acres across Riley, Geary & Morris Counties, in north-eastern Kansas. Basemap includes gravity anomaly data and the distribution of recorded hydrogen occurrences in the USA with a larger circle representing higher H2%
