Lord Resources (ASX:LRD) extends high-grade copper mineralisation at Ilgarari Project in Western Australia

Lord Resources (ASX:LRD) has delivered a strong set of assay results from diamond drilling at its Ilgarari Copper Project in Western Australia, confirming and extending copper mineralisation across both the Hidden and Tailings Lodes.

The latest findings, including grades up to 4.59% copper, reinforce the project’s emerging potential within a historically mineralised district south of Newman.

Highlights

  • Diamond drilling at Ilgarari has extended the Tailings Lode by approximately 330 metres down plunge to the northeast, coinciding with a modelled electromagnetic conductor.

  • High-grade intercepts include 0.7 metres at 4.59% Cu, 1.1 metres at 3.74% Cu, and 1.5 metres at 3.20% Cu.

  • Hidden Lode extended by 70 metres down dip and over 100 metres along strike, returning 10 metres at 0.59% Cu, including 1.04 metres at 1.33% Cu.

  • Four assay results remain pending, with results expected in November.

  • Data integration and geological modelling are underway to prepare for Phase 2 drilling.

Building the Geological Picture

The Ilgarari Copper Project sits within the Mesoproterozoic Bangemall Basin, an area known for complex structural geology and copper-rich mineral systems.

The project lies within the Collier Group sediments intruded by dolerite sills of the Kulkatharra Group, with copper mineralisation hosted along steeply dipping faults and dolerite-shale contacts.

Recent drilling has targeted the deeper sulphide mineralisation, where chalcopyrite and chalcocite predominate. Importantly, results have confirmed the continuity of mineralisation along both the Tailings and Hidden Lodes, with evidence of strong structural control coinciding with geophysical conductors.

At the Tailings Lode, diamond holes 25IRC011D and 25IRC002D were particularly successful, extending mineralisation beyond historical workings.

Meanwhile, drilling at the Hidden Lode, notably hole 25IRC006D, intersected a broad zone of copper mineralisation consistent with previous visual observations, reinforcing the down-dip potential of the structure.

Strategic and Technical Context

Ilgarari’s modern exploration builds upon more than a century of intermittent mining and drilling. Historic operators extracted high-grade copper from near-surface oxide zones, with grades reported up to 30% copper from shallow workings.

Earlier exploration was limited by shallow drilling and incomplete sampling of the deeper sulphide zones.

Lord’s current program is targeting these untested areas at depth by combining traditional geological logging with electromagnetic data, a strategy that has validated its exploration model and positioned Ilgarari as a potential contributor to Australia’s expanding copper project pipeline.

Lord Resources holds an earn-in right to 80% of the sulphide mineral rights below 120 metres at Ilgarari, with full ownership applications over adjoining exploration licences E52/4403 and E52/4405.

“These first results from the diamond drilling at Ilgarari are a fantastic start in building the picture for substantial deeper mineralisation. We are particularly encouraged by the high-grade assays and extension of the Tailings Lode and look forward to receiving assays for the remaining four drillholes,” said Exploration Manager Georgina Clark.

The company’s immediate focus will be on data integration, geological modelling, and potential down-hole electromagnetic surveys to refine the geometry of high-grade zones.

The upcoming assays will complete the picture from this phase of drilling and guide the design of a Phase 2 program, aimed at testing strike and depth extensions along the key lodes.

For now, the Ilgarari results mark a promising advance for Lord Resources as it works to define the scale and consistency of copper mineralisation across a project that has remained underexplored at depth.
