Reach Resources (ASX:RR1) uncovers shallow high-grade gold at Murchison South
February 19, 2025If there’s one thing investors love, it’s a gold discovery with grade and scale, preferably near surface.
Reach Resources (ASX:RR1) appears to have delivered just that at its Murchison South Gold Project, with its first two drill holes unearthing a bumper 41 metres at 2.01 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from surface, including a high-grade hit of 5m at 10.01 g/t from 36m.
While early days, these results validate historic drilling at the project’s Blue Heaven deposit, nestled within WA’s gold-rich Murchison Mineral Field.
High-Grade Gold in First Holes
The results from the maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at Murchison South have delivered an early win for Reach, reinforcing expectations that Blue Heaven hosts significant gold mineralisation.
Among the key intercepts:
-
41m @ 2.01 g/t from surface, including
- 15m @ 2.01 g/t from 2m, and
- 5m @ 10.01 g/t from 36m
-
22m @ 0.70 g/t from 33m, including
- 10m @ 1.05 g/t from 33m, and
- 1m @ 1.61 g/t from 45m
Reach Reosurces CEO Jeremy Bower was upbeat about the early results:
“These fantastic initial results give us a great start towards validation of the historic drilling and resource model at our Blue Heaven deposit.
We have hit some high-grade shallow gold intervals, which align with the model, which is very encouraging, and we now eagerly await assays from the remaining 12 holes so we can get a complete understanding of our project.”
A Validated Gold System?
The drilling program consisted of 14 holes for a total of 1,463m at an average depth of 104m.
The fact that these first two holes hit mineralisation consistent with Reach’s geological model bodes well for what’s to come.
Mining consultancy firm Mining Plus has been engaged to assess and refine the mineralisation model, which could pave the way for defining an initial resource estimate.
Early signs suggest the deposit hosts structurally controlled gold within quartz veins in hornblende gneiss—a classic setting for economic mineralisation.
What’s Next?
The next major catalysts for Reach include:
- Assays from the remaining 12 holes, due in the next week.
- Independent mineralisation review by Mining Plus, which could drive strategic exploration and development decisions.
- Metallurgical test work and mine planning, to assess potential processing options.
- Discussions with mining contractors and processors, to scope development pathways.
Point of Difference
Unlike many junior gold explorers, Reach isn’t just a single-project play.
The company has an inferred gold resource at Payne’s Find and an investment in rare earths recycling technology via REEcycle Inc.
This dual-pronged strategy—gold exploration alongside exposure to the critical minerals space—sets Reach apart from the crowded small-cap resources sector.
With gold prices holding firm and a market hungry for new discoveries, Reach Resources could be on the verge of something significant.
The coming weeks will determine whether Blue Heaven is a true standout or just another speck in the vast WA gold landscape.
