Lunnon Metals (ASX: LM8) identifies high priorty areas at Long South GapJanuary 22, 2024 Off By Rueben Hale
Lunnon Metals’ assays have now been received from the Long South Gap prospect, where the first-ever diamond drill (DD) hole program is in this part of the prolific Kambalda Dome.
According to the company, the final assays more accurately define the zones of elevated geochemistry and highlight potential channel settings within the prospect area.
The original drilling team stopped the parent hole at 928m due to difficult conditions, but the final assays from an adjoining “wedge” hole identified a quartz-breccia structure at 1,083m.
The area tested by this program represents less than 0.05% of the total area recently covered by the entire 3D seismic survey.
Portable field XRF (pXRF) readings on the DD core enabled an initial assessment of select prospective measures and highlighted zones of elevated geochemistry defined by the “Kambalda Ratio.”
“The Long South Gap prospect is close to 6km2 in area, where the prospective komatiite-basalt contact has never been tested,” Managing Director Edmund Ainscough said.
“This data, the very first geochemistry, geological and structural information ever collected, reinforces our view that it is a high priority target area.
“This early drilling data helps evaluate the recent 3D seismic survey. The new targets that are soon to be generated will no doubt present exciting opportunities for our 2024 discovery program”.
The company is analysing a 3D seismic survey to further understand the program’s potential implications on the Kambalda Dome.
