NRW (ASX:NWH) scoop Perth’s northern interchange works
January 19, 2024NRW has been name preferred supplier for the Reid Highway Interchanges project, which will improve traffic flow and urban amenities in Perth’s northern region.
The works will see two new free-flowing interchanges on Reid Highway at Altone Road and Drumpellier Drive / Daviot Road to improve safety and facilitate more efficient freight movement.
Reid Highway is a crucial east-west route in Perth’s north, and these new interchanges will remove two of the five remaining signalised intersections on the highway.
The project will include the construction of a new bridge on the busy highway, passing over the Altone Road intersection, with connectivity between Altone Road and Reid Highway to be maintained.
A new bridge connecting Drumpellier Drive with Daviot Road and entry and exit ramps onto Reid will also be built.
Modifying the existing Tattler Way roundabout will provide south-bound left-in/left-out access to the residential area.
At the same time, a bridge for cyclists and pedestrians will pass over the Altone Road on-ramp, with new underpasses beneath the Altone off-ramp and Daviot Road.
In addition, various noise and screening walls will be installed along northern arterial roads in different locations.
The project, costing $225 million, will be jointly funded by the Australian and State Governments with a 50 per cent contribution each.NRW says the project has a far-reaching impact on the northern region’s growth and development.
“Reid Highway is a strategic east-west route in Perth’s north between Marmion Avenue and Roe Highway. These new interchanges will remove two of the five remaining signalised intersections on Reid Highway,” the company said.
