Lithium Universe (ASX:LU7) appoint a Canadian capital captainNovember 14, 2023
Lithium Universe has appointed Victoria Vargas and added an experienced international capital market operator to serve as Director of its Canadian subsidiary as it advances its lithium processing ambitions in the Great White North.
With over quarter century of experience in the North American capital markets, the appointment was made to strengthen the company’s exposure to international cash, open corporate development opportunities, and use her ESG acumen as a boon to development of the Quebec Processing Hub.
Beginning her career at Kinross Gold and then at water treatment technologists H20 Innovation, Ms Vargas then started at Alamos Gold in 2004 and played a pivotal role in opening investor exposure and the subsequent move from a junior on the venture exchange to the seven billion Canadian market cap power on the TSX it is today.
She is also highly adroit in sustainability and community engagement, serving on social responsibility committees in both Canada and Mexico while building up extensive international expertise and relationships as a trusted advisor.
But with a focus on mineral projects in Quebec and Ontario, and Lithium Universe Non-Executive Chairman Iggy Tan said the appointment would be instrumental in advancing its Quebec Processing Hub Strategy.
“Ms. Vargas’s profound understanding of Canadian mineral markets will play a key role in enhancing our relationships with all stakeholders. We are very fortunate to have Victoria join our dynamic team,” Mr Tan said.
After rounding out a board and leadership team stacked like pegmatite for an integrated push into Canada’s lithium industry, Lithium Universe has continued to expand its prospects to become a globally significant producer.
Work has only recently begun at its flagship Apollo exploration project, but the company is moving fast downstream and has appointed an engineering firm to design a multi-purpose battery-grade lithium carbonate refinery in Quebec and has now opened up the capital market manoeuvres to make it happen.
