Leeuwin (ASX:LM1) crack open the Cross Lake cores
November 15, 2023Leeuwin Metals sampling of three historic holes at Cross Lake has returned significant widths of high-grade lithium mineralisation in each one as it looks towards its own round of drilling at the fully owned project in Canada’s Manitoba province.
The results have presented a significant pegmatite swarm over 400 metres of strike, standing within expansive, unexplored, and fully owned territory featuring mapped swarms extending beyond six kilometres of strike.
Significant spodumene intercepts
- 24.96m @ 1.09% Li2O from 6m; &
– 9.79m @ 1.18% Li2O from 75.55m. - 7.21m @ 1.94% Li2O from 19m.
- 4.73m @ 1.78% Li2O from 45.27m
Leeuwin Managing Director Christopher Piggott said that building on a successful re-assay of historical drill holes for lithium, these findings have reinforced the presence of high-grade lithium and contribute to the project’s substantial scale potential.
“Despite the fact that the region remains under explored, promising indications of a large-scale mineralised system have been observed in the field. The high-grade lithium assays from the historical resampling program have significantly enhanced the project’s value, making it a top priority for the Company leading in to 2024,” Mr Piggott said.
“Geographically, Manitoba is centrally located in North America, providing significant benefits to the project, this includes its close proximity to major railway, hydro power, and year-round road access.
“Leeuwin is well-capitalised to advance into the next phase of exploration, and the Company looks forward to providing regular updates to the market as we advance our activities.”
Forward plan
An application for drilling is in, and Leeuwin plan to get going soon in the first half of the new year, with sampling from recently completed fieldwork expected for the March quarter.
And the company see plenty of upside remaining at Cross Lake’s 2000 square kilometre-plus land position built up through its own internal project generation, with the potential to claim discovery and develop a new Manitoban lithium district.
