Kuniko (ASX:KNI) grab prime lithium ground at James Bay

Kuniko (ASX:KNI) grab prime lithium ground at James Bay

March 9, 2023 0 By Rueben Hale

Kuniko has acquired highly desirable hard rock lithium projects in Quebec’s increasingly famous James Bay Region.

The battery metals explorer has gained options over Fraser, Mia North and Nemaska South lithium projects close to Windsome Resources, Patriot Battery Metals’ prolific tenures, and other active projects nearby.

The largest Fraser Lithium Project at 150 km2 holds mapped fertile pegmatites and is excitingly located just southwest of Winsome’s Cancet Lithium Project and west of Patriot Battery Metal’s Corvette Lithium Project. Allkem’s James Bay Lithium Project lay to the northeast.

Meanwhile, the highly prospective Mia North Lithium Project is occupies ground on a greenstone belt known to host pegmatites with the potential for spodumene-containing lithium mineralisation just north of Q2 Metals Corp. Mia Lithium Project.

The Nemaska South Lithium Project hosts at least five mapped pegmatite outcrops and is adjacent to the Li-FT Power Lithium Project and 35km southwest of Nemaska Lithium (Whabouchi Project).

Kuniko CEO Antony Beckmand said the new lithium projects offer our shareholders the potential for significant exploration value upside.

“The exciting James Bay address of these three projects puts Kuniko in the right place for lithium exploration – the area is highly regarded and desired for its abundant hard rock lithium-bearing pegmatites.

“Our projects were carefully selected, identifying key geological and geophysical signatures which make them prospective for large-scale hard rock lithium discoveries.

“The lithium prospects in Québec represent a complementary addition to our portfolio, enabling a continued focus on securing battery minerals for the rapidly growing European market while also adding the parallel opportunity in the North American market.”

Next Steps

Prospecting, mapping, and pegmatite sampling fieldwork will begin next month across the new projects.
