Gorilla Gold has reported a new shallow gold discovery at the Diddy Kong Prospect within its 100%-owned Comet Vale Gold Project in Western Australia.
The prospect is located 1km south of the recently announced Magilla and Donkey Kong discoveries and forms part of the company’s North Kalgoorlie Hub, which hosts a Mineral Resource of 1.2Moz @ 3.7g/t Au.
Highlights
- New shallow gold discovery at the Diddy Kong Prospect at Comet Vale.
- Initial drilling returned 8.0m @ 3.2g/t Au from 14.0m and 4.0m @ 2.6g/t Au from 64.0m in hole LSEX021.
- Historical drilling intersected 4.0m @ 2.1g/t Au from 91.0m and 4.0m @ 5.2g/t Au from 111.0m in ETC005.
- Gorilla said mineralisation at Diddy Kong remains open in all directions.
- The company stated associated soil anomalism extends for more than 1km.
- An RC drill rig is mobilising to Comet Vale in May 2026 to follow up drilling at Diddy Kong, Magilla and Donkey Kong.
- Six drill rigs are operating across Gorilla’s projects during May 2026 targeting resource growth and exploration drilling.
The Diddy Kong discovery follows the regional Magilla and Donkey Kong discoveries announced on 27 April 2026 and the Sovereign footwall discovery announced on 4 May 2026.
According to the company, mineralisation at Diddy Kong is comparable to mineralisation identified at the nearby Magilla and Donkey Kong discoveries and the 350,000oz Lakeview deposit.
Gorilla stated the discovery sits beneath a 1km gold-in-soils geochemistry anomaly, with historical mine workings present over parts of the strike extent.
The company also said previous operators had intersected mineralisation but drilled in a different orientation to its current geological interpretation.
Chief executive Charles Hughes said the recent drilling program continued to report new discoveries across the Comet Vale project area.
“This discovery shows the value of applying modern geological interpretation to historical datasets. Previous operators had intersected mineralisation but drilled in the wrong orientation. By reinterpreting the geology and turning the rig around 180 degrees, we’ve successfully unlocked a new gold system.”
The company said drilling activities had recently been completed at the Happy Jack discovery, with assays pending, while drilling is underway at the Lady Margaret target.
Gorilla also stated that two diamond rigs are conducting extensional drilling at the Sovereign Deposit and one diamond rig is undertaking extensional drilling at Mulwarrie.
A further diamond rig is operating at the Vivien Project targeting hanging wall and footwall exploration targets.
Gorilla stated that engineering, geotechnical, metallurgical and hydrological studies are continuing alongside permitting work.
The Comet Vale Project hosts a Mineral Resource Estimate of 860,000oz @ 3.7g/t Au and historical gold production of more than 200,000oz at grades above 20g/t Au, according to the company.
Gorilla said the project is located on granted Mining Leases adjacent to the Goldfields Highway and within a region containing multiple operational gold mills within a 100km radius.
The company stated the North Kalgoorlie Hub contains more than 60km of high-priority drill targets and includes the Comet Vale and Mulwarrie projects, both located on granted Mining Licences.
