Godolphin (ASX:GRL) returns rare recoveries from Narraburra

Godolphin (ASX:GRL) returns rare recoveries from Narraburra

Godolphin Resources‘ second phase of metallurgical testing has produced excellent recovery rates, achieving 80 to 95 per cent extraction of key magnet rare earths neodymium, praseodymium, terbium, and dysprosium from its Narraburra project in New South Wales.

Work done by ANSTO, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, produced best results of 96% Nd, 92% Pr, 91% Tb and 93% Dy – rates Godolphin says confirm the project’s potential for development.

The Narraburra results have demonstrated the rare earth elements are concentrated in fine-size fractions.

An average increase, doubling the total rare earth and yttrium oxide grade, suggests simple ore screening could significantly enhance the Narraburra processing grade.

Godolphin Managing Director Jeneta Owens said the company was delighted at the results.

“They support the initial high-grade leach results from last year based on individual 1 metre samples, and now we have achieved exceptional plus-90% recoveries on composite samples that resemble actual mining intervals,” Ms Owens said.

“These results demonstrate the excellent leachability of the important magnet minerals from the Narraburra deposit that are an essential component to all electric motors and used widely across the world.

“Along with the recovery rates, Godolphin is also pleased to report excellent results from the first round of size-fraction work, that have shown we can achieve a significant REE upgrade in the fine fractions.”

Ms Owens added the results includes the targeted magnet elements, which points toward the opportunity to upgrade feed to leaching and upgrade the project financials.

“We look forward to providing updates on the next steps for Narraburra as we progress this important project,” she said.

“These metallurgical test results will be key inputs into a mining study, which will further investigate Narraburra’s different processing flow sheet options and project economics.”

Narraburra Rare Earth

Host to a 94.9 million tonnes at 739ppm TREYO resource, a high-grade 20Mt @ 1,079ppm TREO core at Narraburra has provided the focus for a scoping study to investigate the project’s mining and processing potential for material above 1000ppm.

Narraburra stands alongside Australian Strategic Minerals’ Dubbo project as one of two New South Wales projects highlighted by the State Government for its rare earth opportunity.

And Godolphin has cited a 126% TREO grade uplift, a previously undefined indicated resource now standing at half, and a 30 per cent tonnage rise over the previous estimate as the facts highlighting an opportunity of ongoing exploration and development.

These new results will now inform the explorer’s program of works for the year, likely to include more drilling to define Narraburra’s existing resources amid ongoing metallurgy.
