Burley (ASX:BUR) expand diamond drilling at Chubb Lithium

Burley (ASX:BUR) expand diamond drilling at Chubb Lithium

August 29, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

Burley Minerals is set to begin delivering a swathe of lithium results from Chubb and has begun an expanded diamond-core drill program for up to 4000 metres at its fully owned lithium project in the Canadian province of Québec.

The company has already capped off 5200 metres of diamond drilling since April and an ANT geophysics survey, with results and data analysis expected to start coming in as soon as next month.

The expanded campaign will continue to test for extensions to Chubb’s Central Main Dyke along strike and at depth and towards the untapped south where widths improve, while also testing for spodumene in mapped parallel pegmatite dykes.

Burley Managing Director and Chief Executive Stewart McCallion said he was very pleased with the fantastic progress its team has made since machinery bans were lifted early last month.

“Our geologists, drilling contractor and core shed operators responded rapidly and efficiently to complete the drilling and implement the ANT geophysics survey. They worked diligently to complete two ANT surveys covering the known Chubb mineralised zone, strike extensions and over the eastern parallel target zone,” Mr McCallion said.

Mr McCallion added that the drill rig has mobilised and set up for the first hole of its latest program, and he was looking forward to receiving assay results shortly.

“It is exciting the team continues to grow and define the spodumene mineralisation in these highly prospective mineral claims, having only completed the acquisition of the Chubb Lithium Project in February this year in the in the Tier 1 lithium province of Québec, Canada,” he said.

Early returns

Well-funded and with its new helmsman on deck, Burley’s early program has consistently intersected thick lithium-bearing spodumene pegmatites with drilling into the main dyke, striking widths between four to 13 metres down hole and confirming heady continuity along strike and at depth.

The first three holes of maiden drilling all returned above 1.2 per cent lithium dioxide and was backed up by more high-grade intercepts up to 1.93 per cent which confirmed spodumene-bearing pegmatite with at least 560 metres of strike length extending from the surface of Chubb to below 200 metres.

Chubb sits near the heart of a world-class Quebec lithium province which continues to yield world-class discoveries, centred in the same Manneville Deformation Corridor which hosts Canada’s only operating lithium mine.

And as the majors begin making their exploration entries into the region, Burley will soon have a full suite of results on hand as it continues to systematically identify spodumene mineralisation across its largely untested tenement package.
