Burley (ASX:BUR) achieve commercial grade at Chubb

Burley (ASX:BUR) achieve commercial grade at Chubb

December 22, 2023 Off By Tom Duggan

Burley Minerals preliminary metallurgical testwork has shown the right signs, with both composite samples of high and low grade spodumene-bearing pegmatite from the Chubb Lithium Project showing excellent recoveries and commercial concentrate grades.

The work on the Chubb Central pegmatite achieved 72% recoveries of the high-grade and 60% for the low, and both came in above the 6% benchmark for creating a commercial product.

Ore sorting technologies hold the potential to further increase beneficiation efficiency, and Burley Managing Director and CEO Stewart McCallion said this preliminary work provides an improved understanding of Chubb Central and its capacity to processing through a typical flowsheet.

“Through the on-going exploration activities, and now the preliminary metallurgical testwork, the Burley Minerals team continue to add value to the highly prospective Chubb Lithium claims near Val d’Or, Québec,” Mr McCallion said.

“Initial testwork was successful in demonstrating strong lithium recoveries of 60 to 72% whilst achieving a high grade +6% Li2O lithium concentrate.

“The initial metallurgical results suggest the process flowsheet may not require a flotation or magnetic circuits potentially simplifying the process flowsheets and reducing both operating and capital costs.

“We will continue to improve confidence at Chubb – both from the understanding of both its mineralisation, and its metallurgical properties.”

Burley has bow engaged STARK Resources to begin direct spodumene ore sorting test work as it looks to build on a big green tick of early metallurgy.

The company is planning more metallurgical programs for 2024 to continue forging up Chubb alongside exploration activities, and it has another opportunity to explore after fortuitously uncovering high value caesium-bearer pollucite next to the spodumene.
