Adavale (ASX:ADD) continue sulphide strikes at Luhuma Central

Adavale (ASX:ADD) continue sulphide strikes at Luhuma Central

September 6, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

Adavale Resources‘ fifth hole into its newly acquired Luhuma Central tenements has intersected over 340 metres of semi-massive and heavily disseminated nickel sulphide mineralisation along strike from the Kabanga nickel deposit in Tanzania.

The fourth diamond drillhole also intersected multiple zones of massive, semi-massive and disseminated nickel sulphide from 250m to 323m, and all five holes have now intersected significant massive or semi-massive mineralisation.

Handheld XRF readings have shown nickel between 1.4% and 2.7% in the massive portion of the sulphides, but the company will have to wait for the assays’ return to fully confirm high-grade nickel in the follow up to a historical BHP intercept of 8m @ 1.14% Ni near the world’s largest high-grade undeveloped nickel sulphide resource.

It is early days, but Adavale Executive Director David Riekie said that striking sulphides in another consecutive hole was a great outcome.

“What is particularly gratifying is the strike extent being open to both the North and South and drill testing of this is imminent. Ground EM will also be used to trace the interpreted mineralisation over the full 1-1.5km strike extent at Luhuma Central. The Company looks forward to providing ongoing updates to what is a very exciting phase in the program,” Mr Riekie said.

Forward plan

Assays from the fifth hole are expected within four weeks, and the company’s second multipurpose rig has now been reconfigured to RC to begin a series of holes testing several coincident gravity and electromagnetic anomalies at its HEM2 target.

Following the assays’ return, Adavale will have downhole and ground electromagnetic survey results coming in as it continues RC and diamond drilling across the greater Kabanga Jirani Nickel Project.

The nickel frontier

The Tanzanian nickel frontier has attracted attention from higher powers than the majors since the discovery of Kabanga around fifty years ago.

The deposit was big and high-grade, but a remote location, uncertainty surrounding nickel prices and the requirements to export to overseas smelters had hampered its development.

But now with a unique metal refining system, a new EV-driven wave of demand, and both BHP and a supportive government at its back, Kabanga is ready for development and has spurred a new wave of exploration in the surrounding territory.
