Iceni Gold (ASX:ICL) advances Goose Well with 2,600m maiden RC program
March 4, 2026Iceni Gold has moved its Goose Well prospect within the 14 Mile Well Gold Project to drill-ready status, outlining a 23-hole, 2,600m reverse circulation program to test what it describes as a structurally controlled, syenite-hosted gold system.
The target sits on the western extent of the company’s ~850km² landholding between Leonora and Laverton, an area long recognised for intrusive-related gold deposits.
Highlights
- Proposed 23-hole RC program for ~2,600m at Goose Well, scheduled to commence in March 2026.
- Target centred on the Goose Well Intrusive Complex, a multi-phase monzo-granite and quartz-syenite body with a surrounding magnetic anomaly.
- Tenement-wide soil sampling defined coherent >15ppb Au anomalies on a 40m x 200m grid.
- Resampling of 4 historic RC holes confirmed broad zones of gold mineralisation, including 21m @ 0.68g/t Au from 1m and 12m @ 0.64g/t Au from 66m.
- Program designed to assess continuity along strike, up-dip within the regolith and at depth.
Goose Well is interpreted to comprise a large, multi-phase monzo-granite and quartz-syenite intrusion within a mafic greenstone sequence, termed the Goose Well Intrusive Complex.
Aeromagnetic data defines a strong circular magnetic high surrounding a central magnetic low, interpreted as a magnetite-rich reaction zone developed around the intrusive body.
The setting is described as analogous to other syenite-associated systems in the district, including Jupiter and Wallaby.
These anomalies coincide with mapped quartz veins trending NNW-SSE and NE-SW, particularly around the historic Laccos Shaft workings.
Historical RC drilling completed in 2008 and 2014 provided limited public data. Iceni located and resampled preserved spoil from 4 holes, confirming multiple broad anomalous zones above 0.1g/t Au in both supergene and fresh rock.
Notably, GWRC-12 returned 21m @ 0.68g/t Au from 1m, including 5m @ 1.57g/t Au from 9m, while GWRC-13 intersected 12m @ 0.64g/t Au from 66m, including 2m @ 2.33g/t Au from 69m.
Mineralisation is interpreted to be quartz vein-shear hosted and spatially associated with lamprophyre intrusions.
Iceni Gold Managing Director Wade Johnson said the work had progressively refined the target:
“This drilling program will be an important initial step in determining the scale and continuity of the system, and we look forward to testing the target for the first time using modern techniques.”
A single 200.4m diamond hole completed in 2024 provided additional geological and structural context, intersecting quartz stockwork-altered monzo-granite and quartz-syenite, lamprophyre dykes and a narrow quartz lode before ending in sheared basalt.
The forthcoming RC program will test the structurally complex zones within the syenite package highlighted by the integrated geophysical, geochemical and drilling datasets.
All Program of Work approvals and statutory clearances are in place, and drilling has been scheduled with Challenge Drilling to commence in March 2026.
For Iceni, Goose Well represents one of several priority targets across the 14 Mile Well project area.
The current program is designed to validate the emerging geological model and determine whether the anomalism observed to date translates into continuity and scale consistent with a larger intrusive-related gold system within the Leonora-Laverton district.
