Zeus Resources (ASX:ZEU) set to commence trenching at Casablanca Antimony Project in Morocco
October 30, 2025As global demand for critical minerals accelerates, Zeus Resources (ASX:ZEU) is preparing to advance fieldwork at its Casablanca Antimony Project in central Morocco, positioning itself among a limited number of companies targeting high-grade antimony outside of China.
The company is awaiting final approval from Morocco’s Forestry Department before commencing trenching activities in November 2025, a key precursor to its maiden drilling campaign planned for early 2026.
Highlights
-
Final forestry approval pending for trenching commencement in November 2025.
-
Eight trenches totalling 120 metres to test high-priority chargeability anomalies.
-
Programme duration estimated at 10–15 days with assays expected before year-end.
-
Results to inform geological modelling and define drill targets for Q1 2026.
The Casablanca Antimony Project (CAP), wholly owned by Zeus, covers six exploration licences across central Morocco, a country recognised for its mining-friendly regulations and geological diversity.
The project has already yielded promising rock chip samples with grades between 7.8% and 46.52% antimony, confirming the potential for a substantial mineralised system within the Smaala–Oulmès Fault Zone.
The next stage of exploration builds on an induced polarisation (IP) and resistivity survey completed in August 2025, which identified multiple chargeability anomalies associated with mapped quartz–stibnite veins.
These anomalies correspond with known mineralised corridors and now form the focus of the upcoming trenching programme.
Eight trenches, each approximately 15 metres in length and two metres deep, are designed to intersect the strongest geophysical targets across the southern licence block.
The work will provide fresh geological exposure and facilitate detailed structural mapping. Continuous channel samples will be collected and analysed at AfriLab, an ALS-accredited facility in Morocco, using four-acid digestion and ICP-OES methods.
Zeus Resources expects the trenching and assay data to enhance its understanding of the geometry and grade distribution of the quartz–stibnite vein system.
The results will be critical in defining the orientation and scale of mineralisation before drill testing begins next quarter.
“Securing the final forestry approval will allow Zeus to immediately commence trenching — a pivotal step toward our maiden drill campaign. The trenching results will directly inform our drill planning and further validate the scale of this high-grade antimony system,” said Director Hugh Pilgrim.
The Casablanca Project’s significance extends beyond exploration potential. Antimony is classified as a critical mineral by Australia, the United States, the European Union, and Japan, largely due to its role in flame retardants, lead-acid batteries, and semiconductors.
With global supply concentrated among a small number of producers, projects such as Casablanca have strategic relevance amid efforts to diversify the sourcing of key minerals required for defence and energy applications.
Morocco’s established mining sector and transparent regulatory environment provide a stable setting for Zeus to execute its exploration plans, with a long history of antimony production in the region, including French operations during the 1940s, underscoring the area’s proven geological fertility.
The trenching programme marks a technical turning point for Zeus Resources as it transitions from geophysical interpretation to physical validation of mineralised structures.
Should results confirm continuity and grade, the company will move swiftly into its maiden drill campaign, setting the stage for potential resource definition in 2026.
With well-structured exploration planning, local partnerships, and favourable jurisdictional support, Zeus Resources is methodically advancing toward establishing Morocco’s next high-grade antimony discovery.
