Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) sharpens focus at Kopsa with fresh magnetic targets
September 16, 2025Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) has added fresh intrigue to its flagship Kopsa gold project in Finland, with ground magnetic survey results pointing to undrilled anomalies that bear the hallmarks of the existing deposit.
The company already boasts a sizeable resource at Kopsa, but the new data broadens the scope of discovery and underlines why this patch of the Middle Ostrobothnia Gold Belt is shaping up as one of Europe’s more compelling gold growth stories.
Highlights
-
Ground magnetic survey mapped across the Kopsa area.
-
Several new targets show the same magnetic signature as the known deposit.
-
A 2.5km undrilled corridor extends southwest from Kopsa.
-
Kopsa hosts 23.2Mt at 1.09g/t AuEq for 814,800oz AuEq.
-
69% of the resource sits in the Measured and Indicated categories.
-
4,500m drill program currently underway.
The results of the ground magnetic (GMAG) survey have enhanced structural understanding of the tonalite intrusion that hosts the Kopsa orebody.
Importantly, they have pinpointed new magnetic anomalies that resemble the deposit itself, opening up two fresh corridors for drilling, one stretching 2.5 kilometres southwest and another extending 1.5 kilometres south.
While Kopsa already stands on solid footing with a near-surface gold-copper resource, the exploration upside now looks materially broader.
Historical drilling has delivered impressive intercepts such as 98.7 metres at 3.9 grams per tonne gold and 0.19 per cent copper from just 6 metres, and these remain central to the project’s growth case.
The Kopsa licence sits in the Middle Ostrobothnia Gold Belt, a region considered underexplored compared to its Swedish counterpart.
Nordic’s three gold projects in the belt collectively amount to 1.23 million ounces of gold equivalent, with two-thirds of that in the higher-confidence Measured and Indicated categories.
“The GMAG survey has greatly increased our understanding of the host structure at Kopsa and identified several new targets based on their similarity to the main deposit’s magnetic signature,” said Executive Director Robert Wrixon.
With a mining licence process under way and nearby processing plants presenting toll treatment options, Nordic has multiple pathways to accelerate development.
The company is already progressing with 4,500 metres of diamond drilling, which is expected to both expand the current resource and begin testing the new anomalies flagged by the survey.
Looking ahead, investors will be watching for the first results from this program, particularly where they intersect with the new corridors highlighted by the GMAG.
If the magnetic fingerprints translate into gold and copper grades akin to Kopsa’s core, Nordic Resources could be looking at a step change in its Finnish portfolio.
