White Cliff (ASX:WCN) eyes golden expansion from extensive extensions

White Cliff Minerals’ latest round of drilling has shown large extensions at depth and along strike from the current 42,400-ounce gold resource at its Reedy South project in the well-endowed Cue goldfields of Western Australia.

A 7 metre at 1.12 grams per tonne intercept from 92m intercept came from northbound and along strike from one of the resource holes, while a 79m at 1g/t from 10m down dip hit showed a system moving at depth.

Lesser graded but noteworthy assays were also returned from beneath and south of the current resource, giving White Cliff something to think about with its mineralised system now validated as continuous in all directions.

The 779,000 tonne at 1.7 g/t Au Reedy South resource is shallow, and smaller-scale resources in active gold regions like Cue have increasingly offered a taste of production at a high point price tag now exceeding US$2300 an ounce.

White Cliff Managing Director Troy Whittaker said the program was designed to test extensions, but the unearthed scale was something of an eye-opener.

“Surprised us in terms of the scale of the newly identified structures which appear to be increasing in size in and around the existing resource and extend laterally for several hundred metres to the north and south,” he said.

“Whilst the campaign was designed predominantly as an exploration program to expand our understanding of the Reedy’s shear zone and associated mineralisation, Hole 6 for example (79m @ 1g/t) is extraordinary as it demonstrates the system is growing and continuing at depth.”

Whittaker said the company will now review the new information in detail and determine what actions, including deeper drilling, can be done to optimise value for its holders.

White Cliff thinks there is scope to substantially grow the resource, with one hole at least clearly defining potential 30m depth extensions.

Mineralisation at Reedy South comes within a shear zone along a mafic-ultramafic contact with discontinuous quartz veining, and styles and controls on mineralisation similar to Westgold‘s Triton-South Emu goldmine sitting immediately to the north.
