Panther Metals (ASX:PNT) strikes gold at Comet Well with stunning nugget discoveries
October 8, 2024 Off By MarketOpenPanther Metals (ASX:PNT) has uncovered a series of gold nuggets at its Comet Well and Comet Well South projects, a discovery that underscores the untapped potential of the Laverton Gold Project (LGP).
This early-stage finding, made during drill preparation, adds further intrigue to a region that has already shown flashes of high-grade promise.
The company revealed that over 33 grams of gold were recovered during metal detecting activities, with a standout gold-in-quartz specimen among the finds.
The nuggets, some weighing up to 8.5 grams, were uncovered within shallow depths of less than 40 centimetres.
This unexpected find comes just before a 7,000-metre drill programme kicks off at Comet Well, which promises to unlock more secrets buried beneath.
Panther Metals Managing Director Daniel Tuffin remarked, “We are excited to announce the discovery of gold nuggets at Comet Well and Comet Well South. The finds were initially made during drill preparations and are highlighted by a very encouraging gold-in-quartz specimen.”
He further emphasised the potential of the greater Laverton Gold Project, stating, “These finds underscore the highly under-explored gold-rich potential of the LGP area and the effectiveness of our exploration strategies”.
This nugget discovery comes on the heels of the company’s successful 2022 drilling at Burtville East, where it reported a standout intercept of 15 metres at 53.94g/t gold, including a remarkable 1 metre at 478g/t.
The company is now focused on pursuing these promising zones further with a comprehensive drill campaign.
The prospect of further gold discoveries at Comet Well is tantalising, especially with Panther’s plan to drill across 35 kilometres of strike over 10 distinct targets.
As assays are awaited for the Burtville East drill programme, the company’s ongoing exploration could hold the key to unlocking a significant new gold district in one of Western Australia’s most storied mining regions.
Despite the obvious excitement surrounding the discovery, Tuffin maintains a measured optimism, “This is a very positive beginning to the start of our 7,000-metre drill programme. With nine further targets remaining to drill at the LGP, we look forward to updating the market of our progress as exploration continues”.
Panther’s recent discoveries at Comet Well have set an exciting stage, with the potential for even more significant finds as the drill bit turns—positioning the company for what could be a game-changing exploration success.
