Nimy Resources (ASX:NIM) strike sulphide metals at Masson
December 8, 2023Nimy Resources follow up diamond drilling has returned strong intersections of nickel and copper within a large electromagnetic anomaly and confirmed a significant nickel-copper-cobalt-PGE sulphide discovery at the newly named Masson Prospect at its Mons Project in Western Australia.
A discovery RC intersection struck ten metres of disseminated to massive sulphide mineralisation, and the follow up has now recorded a 54-metre sulphide mineralised zone from 126m, continuing to 171.5m, containing elevated levels of cobalt and PGEs, and all in line with the EM model.
A DHEM survey on the discovery hole also returned three more conductive plates modelled within and off the hole, and a FLEM survey over the prospect pointed towards a large 550m by 175m anomaly and the potential for a large, massive nickel-copper sulphide deposit.
“The extension of sulphide mineralisation including massive sulphides hosted within a mafic rock type, within a large electromagnetic anomaly, along a contact zone gives Nimy an excellent opportunity to discover a substantial nickel copper deposit at the Masson Prospect located within a previously underexplored and new greenstone belt,” Nimy Executive Director Luke Hampson said.
“Our exploration strategy and exhaustive work coupled with the excellent work delivered by Resource Potentials enables us to zero in on not only the Masson Prospect, but the additional targets identified using the same geophysical surveys process.
“The Masson prospect is a significant breakthrough for Nimy Resources as we move toward establishing the Mons Project as a fertile exploration holding.”
With a landholding at Mons exceeding 3000 square kilometres, Nimy is building confidence with more discoveries that drilling is potentially defining an unexplored nickel-copper province under its banner with fully vindicated exploration methods.
And within the EM anomaly are new higher conductance plates standing as the first target off the rack for upcoming drilling, alongside additional quarry coming from final modelling of the FLEM anomaly.
The company also has petrological studies underway, directed at determining the probable style of mineralisation and ore mineralogy.
