Maximus (ASX:MXR) confirm Kandui spodumene

Maximus Resources spectroscopy analysis has confirmed its high-grade lithium hit at the Kandui prospect to be completely mineralised in spodumene as it carries out its first phase drill campaign over the greater Lefroy Lithium Project in Western Australia.

A 6m @ 1.11% Li2O from 90m strike including 3m @ 1.99% Li2O from 91m provided an early allure at the prospect, and Maximus has identified numerous shallow dipping LCT-fertile pegmatites coinciding with an extensive lithium soil anomaly to explore with a 3000 metre RC program.

Maximus Managing Director Tim Wither said to have confirmed a high-grade intersection to be completely mineralised in spodumene was a significant advancement.

“This previously hidden pegmatite has a strong up-dip correlation to an extensive +100ppm lithium soil anomaly, highlighting the opportunity for additional lithium-bearing pegmatites to be discovered,” Mr Wither said.

“Maximus has moved quickly following the execution of the KOMIR Joint Venture, commencing a tenement-wide soil sampling programme aimed at building a pipeline of additional drill targets.

“The first phase ~3,000m drill programme, is nearing completion and testing known pegmatites and an extensive 2km x 1km lithium soil anomaly. The current programme is utilising the KOMIR Joint Venture non-refundable deposit, with the larger programme scheduled to commence in early 2024.”

Next steps

Drilling is nearing completion with first assays expected for release in a few weeks and soon to be followed by the sampling program on track for completion within the next two months.

Given the region’s shallow cover, the soil sampling has so far proven effective to detect concealed or unknown pegmatites in the region, and Maximus will look forward to reaping in new targets ahead of a larger-scale program early in the new year.
