Lithium Universe Limited (ASX:LU7) has announced a significant partnership with the W8banaki Nation to form a joint committee that will oversee the development of the Bécancour Lithium Refinery in Québec, Canada.

This collaboration is a strategic move aimed at ensuring the project is developed with respect for the traditional custodians of the land and leveraging the W8banaki Nation’s expertise in the battery supply chain and chemicals industry.

Formation of a Joint Committee: Lithium Universe and the W8banaki Nation have established a joint committee to provide a structured framework for discussions and decision-making related to the Bécancour Lithium Refinery project.

The committee, consisting of representatives from both parties, will serve as the primary forum for communication, manage project schedules, and ensure culturally safe collaboration.

Collaboration on Environmental Impact Assessment: The W8banaki Nation will actively participate in the environmental assessment process of the Bécancour project.

This involvement will ensure that the Rights and Interests of the W8banakiak are fully considered.

Both parties will work together to develop an Impact Analysis, a critical component of the comprehensive environmental impact study required for the project.

Strategic Project Location: The Bécancour Lithium Refinery is strategically located in the Bécancour Waterfront Industrial Park (BWIP), south of Trois-Rivières, Québec.

The site benefits from excellent logistical connections, including proximity to major highways, rail services provided by Canadian National Railway (CN), and year-round port operations.

This location positions the refinery to play a key role in North America’s burgeoning lithium supply chain.
