Frugl-Trienpont marry-up plans Infocus transformation

April 3, 2024 Off By Amanda Ellis

Frugl Group (ASX:FGL) intelligence investors will consider a proposal to rebrand the expanded group as an information technology solutions company named Infocus Group (ASX:IFG).

The Australian and Thailand-based company will ask its shareholders to approve the rebranding on April 18 to better reflect the new services products and markets the group will target going forward.

Retail intelligence player Frugl has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange for near on 20 years and recently acquired Trienpont International in a cash and shares transaction that will see a targeted $10 million revenue pour into the business during calendar year 2025.

The wider technology group has a market capitalisation of $9 million and is undergoing a transformation from an information business built on technology platforms to a service provider offering a suite of information technology support services.

Strategic evolution

Frugl reported yesterday it was forming a “profitable, scalable, integrated digital solutions service provider” business, with near-term milestones of a rebranding, one-for-15 share consolidation, and analytics arm expansion from retail to other industries globally, including oil and gas, and $5 million revenues during 2024.

The second step in the company’s strategy pathway is to expand beyond retail towards offering AI and machine learning services before developing long-term client revenue with good retention.

Further steps involving making more acquisitions to grow the company and targeting a positive earnings-before-interest-tax-amortisation-depreciation-and-amortisation result within 12 months.

Capabilities and services

Frugl group’s new capabilities and service offerings include:

  • data analytics and business intelligence
  • software development
  • bespoke software-as-a-service developments and management
  • user-experience and user-interface design
  • digital business solutions
  • contracted expert team members, including chief technology officers, technical leads, software architects developers and designers, and quality assurance testers
  • artificial intelligence and machine learning services
  • high-growth sector support services

Assets and client offerings

The Frugl business has the Frugl Grocery prices app and Frugl Price Index among its information services while the group’s Trienpont business has more than 50 technical staffers skilled in a variety of areas, including systems architecture, software development, UX-UI design, DevOps, and more.

Frugl group’s Infocus Analytics clients include blue-chip retail, wholesale and brand clients in Australia which receive enterprise-level data analytics and business intelligence information services.

The analytics arm is planning an expansion from the retail and groceries industry to oil and gas business, and also intends to widen its geographic scope to the Middle East along with Southeast Asia.

It is currently holding active negotiations with an international energy player to provide analytics and intelligence information to its supply chain.

Upcoming meeting

Frugl will hold its annual general meeting at level 2, 100 James Street, Northbridge in Western Australia’s capital city at 12.30pm Western Standard Time.

Any shareholders on the company’s register at 5pm WST on April 16 are eligible to vote on its resolutions.
