Cooper (ASX:CPM) crack wide-open copper at Brumby Ridge
November 14, 2023 Off By Tom DugganCooper Metals‘ initial RC hole into the wide-open Brumby Ridge copper-gold prospect has returned an outstanding 50m at 1.32% Cu from 80m, marking the best assayed intercept to date from its Mt Isa East project in northern Queensland.
The strike returned an interval of 2m @ 6.1% Cu & 0.23g/t Au and there appears to be more to come after follow up drilling intercepted a stretch of copper mineralisation estimated from portable XRF at 72m @ 1.5% Cu from 113m to end of hole from a prospect which remains open in all directions and appears to be improving at depth.
And there were more inspiring returns from the Raven prospect as drilling intercepted 15m @ 1.0% Cu & 0.1 g/t Au from 35m within a wider hit of 28m @ 0.63% Cu & 0.061 g/t Au from 34m, building on a 10m @ 1.27% Cu and 0.17 g/t Au from 77m result earlier this month.
Cooper Managing Director Ian Warland said to say the company was pleased with the results of its initial scout drilling over a collection of prospects was an understatement.
“The Brumby Ridge drill intercept is the single strongest mineralised intercept drilled by Cooper Metals in the last two years. Raven continues to expand with another great intercept into a home-grown conceptual target,” Mr Warland said.
“These two prospects are now the Company’s main focus and are being followed up as we speak, as Cooper continues to test its pipeline of quality Cu-Au prospects in the region.
“This cluster of prospects, including Mafic Sweats South, are only around 30km to the SE of Mt Isa, close to infrastructure and worthy of further priority investigation and exploration by Cooper.”
Cooper has now made Brumby Ridge its top priority, and assays from the current program have been rushed to the lab as it plans a more extensive campaign to properly determine the size and grade potential of mineralisation.
The RC campaign is continuing over Brumby Ridge and Raven Cu-Au Prospects and is expected to be finished this week ahead of the assays’ return in December.
