Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) prepares to drill Into the heart of Goongarrie gold potential
June 12, 2025Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) is set to begin a pivotal phase of exploration at its Goongarrie Gold Project following the receipt of critical regulatory and heritage approvals.
Located 90 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie, Goongarrie lies within a world-class gold-producing district and is poised to deliver the company’s next exploration breakthrough.
For Managing Director Tara French, the green light from the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety marks a turning point.
“These combined approvals mark the transition from preparatory planning into execution, opening the door for meaningful exploration that will test key geological structures and historical gold intercepts across a highly prospective corridor.”
The approvals not only permit reverse circulation (RC) and aircore (AC) drilling, but also follow the completion of a heritage survey which found no heritage sites within the proposed area.
A final report is pending, but current guidance supports immediate commencement.
A Strategic Two-Phase Program
Cazaly Resources exploration strategy will begin with RC drilling at the Duke of York and Star of Goongarrie prospects.
The program is designed with dual objectives: to validate historical gold intercepts and to improve geological understanding of the mineralised system.
“Our initial RC drilling campaign is designed with two clear objectives. First, we will seek to validate historical drill intercepts at the Duke of York and Star of Goongarrie prospects. Second, we aim to define the strike extent and plunge direction of the gold mineralisation within a structurally complex zone.”
These prospects lie at the intersection of the Menzies and Boorara Faults within the Bardoc Tectonic Zone, an area known for hosting significant gold deposits.
Targeting this structural complexity will help refine the geological model and lay the groundwork for future drilling phases.
The historical data at Duke of York supports the company’s confidence, with a series of encouraging intercepts recorded in past drilling campaigns.
“These include 8 metres at 10.7 grams per tonne gold, 13 metres at 3.5 grams per tonne gold, 3 metres at 6.3 grams per tonne gold, and 4 metres at 2.7 grams per tonne gold.”
Despite being recorded over 20 years ago, these results have never been followed up, and Cazaly’s upcoming RC drilling will not only seek to replicate the historical grades but also test their continuity along strike and at depth, forming a critical foundation for the potential development of a robust mineral resource.
Expanding the Footprint with Aircore
Following the RC program, a broader aircore drilling campaign is scheduled to commence.
This phase will step out from the known prospects and explore underexplored areas over a five kilometre strike length.
“The planned aircore drilling will focus on identifying new prospects over a five kilometre strike length of the Bardoc Tectonic Zone, which extends north to south through the project.”
Particular attention will be paid to zones between the historic Goongarrie Lady and Jenny’s Reward gold mines and areas to the north of Jenny’s Reward.
While these zones have received little modern attention due to their lake-margin location, the shallow cover and structural setting present compelling targets.
“The aircore drilling will play a key role in identifying new anomalies and building a regional-scale view of the project’s potential.”
Cazaly believes this phase of work will be instrumental in unlocking additional zones of mineralisation, enhancing the overall scale potential of the Goongarrie project.
A Highly Strategic Gold Asset
Goongarrie is more than just another exploration play.
As French explains, it’s a strategic acquisition that aligns directly with Cazaly’s core strategy of advancing underexplored gold projects in Tier 1 districts.
“Goongarrie is located in a premier gold mining region, just 90 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie. The project covers 70 square kilometres of greenstone geology within the Kalgoorlie Terrain and includes twelve kilometres of the Bardoc Tectonic Zone.”
The Bardoc Tectonic Zone is a continuation of the Boulder Lefroy Shear Zone, one of the most productive gold corridors in the Yilgarn Craton.
With multiple untested parallel structures and historical workings such as Jenny’s Reward and Goongarrie Lady, the project presents multiple layers of prospectivity.
Cazaly has the right to earn up to 80 percent of the Goongarrie Project, and its timing couldn’t be better.
Nearby exploration success at Gorilla Gold’s Lakeview prospect further supports the district’s renewed activity.
“We believe the project offers substantial upside and aligns with our focus on advancing underexplored gold assets in proven districts.”
Looking Ahead
With approvals in hand, RC drilling about to begin, and aircore plans ready to roll out, Cazaly is well positioned to unlock value from one of the more underexplored gold corridors in the northern Goldfields.
The results from the initial program will determine the scope and direction of future exploration activities, with particular emphasis on resource definition and broader regional targeting.
As the company moves from preparation into action, the upcoming months are expected to shape the next chapter in Cazaly’s growth story.
