Castle Minerals (ASX:CDT) confirms high-grade gold at Bundi as Kpali Project gains momentum
July 4, 2025Castle Minerals (ASX:CDT) has delivered strong RC drilling results at its Bundi prospect in Ghana, reaffirming its confidence in the Kpali Gold Project as a potential new gold camp in West Africa.
The results include multiple high grade intercepts and continuity of mineralisation along strike and at depth.
In this Q&A, Executive Chairman Stephen Stone shares his perspective on why the latest findings matter, how they fit into Castle’s broader strategy, and what is planned for the months ahead.
What makes the recent RC drilling results at Bundi significant for Castle Minerals?
These results mark a real step forward for us at Bundi.
Every one of the five RC holes drilled intersected gold grades above one gram per tonne, with several high grade zones within broader envelopes of mineralisation.
In particular, hole25BURC004 delivered seven metres at over three grams per tonne from 114 metres, including a two metre interval grading more than nine grams per tonne.
What really excites us is the confirmation of continuity along strike and the indication that these mineralised zones are thickening with depth including 18 metres at 1.22 grams per tonne from89 metres depth in 25BURC003.
It tells us there is more to uncover here, and it builds confidence in the scale potential.
This was the first drilling at Bundi in more than ten years, and these results fully justify our decision to revisit the prospect.
We are now planning follow up RC drilling before the end of the quarter.
“It validates the original discovery and underpins our plan for follow up drilling later this quarter.”
How does Bundi fit into Castle’s wider exploration strategy in Ghana?
Bundi is one of several key prospects within our 100 percent owned Kpali Gold Project.
Together with Kpali, Kpali East, Wa South East and Wa South West, it forms part of a regional gold story in an area that has seen very limited modern exploration, in fact, it’s a completely new gold district.
What makes this region so attractive is its location at the convergence of two major greenstone belts and three large scale regional structures, all of which are known to be associated with gold mineralisation.
Our goal is to establish a new mining camp scale opportunity in northern Ghana, and Bundi is shaping up to be an important contributor to that objective by providing critical geological insights that help us refine our targeting across the broader project area.
In particular, Bundi is enhancing our understanding of the structural setting and mineralisation style, both of which are essential to unlocking the wider potential of this highly prospective region.
“Our strategy is about identifying and building a cluster of gold prospects that together could support a significant development opportunity.”
What is the relevance of the newly acquired aeromagnetic data and how will it impact exploration?
This dataset is a real value unlock for Castle, it was flown back in 2006 by a previous explorer, but we secured the raw data at no cost.
It covers about 100,000 kilometres of flight lines including over our project area, and if we were to collect that data today it would cost in the order of one and a half million US dollars.
We have already started reprocessing it using modern software, and our consultants are now working on the interpretation.
This will allow us to identify key structures in much greater detail, which is critical in West African gold systems. The information will be used immediately to help target the auger drilling campaign starting in early August and will also shape the design of our next RC drill program.
“This is the kind of dataset that brings real focus to our exploration by narrowing in on the structures that matter most.”
What are the next exploration steps following these results at Bundi?
We are moving quickly to maintain momentum and first up is the auger drilling program scheduled for early August, which will aim to confirm and refine existing targets and potentially generate new ones.
This campaign will take advantage of the recently acquired aeromagnetic data and existing geophysics, including VTEM and ground magnetics.
Once the seasonal rains ease and a rig is available, we plan to commence follow up RC drilling at Bundi and Kpali.
This will build on the new intercepts and aim to extend the mineralisation both laterally and at depth, while the upcoming drill program will also test new high priority structural targets across the project area.
Everything we are doing now is feeding into the development of a more comprehensive exploration model that will guide future work and help us refine our understanding of the broader mineral system.
Why is Castle focused on exploring in northern Ghana, and how does this region compare to more established gold areas?
Northern Ghana is vastly underexplored relative to the southern part of the country, yet it sits on the same prolific Birimian greenstone belts that have delivered many of West Africa’s largest gold discoveries.
There are multiple analogues that show what is possible.
In the same northern region Namdini is a five million ounce deposit and the Black Volta Gold Project, where I was directly involved during my time at Azumah Resources, is another nearby success story that now hosts 2.8 million ounces.
To the south, just across the border in Cote d’Ivoire, is the amazing Assafou discovery where in just six years a 4.9 million ounce resource has been defined.
These examples demonstrate the scale of opportunity in the region.
Our Kpali Project is located right on the same regional structural corridors, and the geology is very similar. It is encouraging that with relatively limited drilling, we are already seeing strong results.
That gives us confidence that we are in the right place, and that with focused and systematic exploration, more discoveries will follow.
“This region is on the cusp of a new wave of gold explorationand we are well positioned to lead it.”
Positioning for discovery in an emerging gold province
Castle Minerals recent success at Bundi is part of a broader strategy to unlock the full potential of the Kpali Gold Project in one of West Africa’s most promising yet underexplored regions.
With an aggressive follow up programme planned , including auger and RC drilling guided by a new aeromagnetic interpretation, Castle is laying the groundwork for sustained discovery.
As Stephen Stone explains, the company’s approach is methodical, well informed and designed to uncover the scale needed to support a long term development opportunity.
The Kpali Gold Project is one of two flagships owned by Castle with the Kandia Gold Project, 100km to the north eastalso being targeted.
Results from a ten hole RC program just completed there are due shortly and Castle is similarly scheduling auger programs and follow up RC drilling there for later this Quarter.
