Carnaby (ASX:CNB) dig into Greater Duchess copper-gold

November 17, 2023 Off By Tom Duggan

Carnaby Resources has returned an exceptional headliner 87m (TW~29m) @ 2.3% Cu, 0.5 g/t Au strike amid a series of high-end exploration results at its Greater Duchess Copper Gold Project in Mt Isa.

The strike grows the Chalcus Lode Extension of the Mount Hope Central Prospect and is associated with an intensely strong downhole electromagnetic conductor of around 15,000 Siemen which remains untested at depth.

Both the extension and EM plate are fully open and sit outside of the 173,000 tonnes of copper equivalent already established at the prospect.

Carnaby Managing Director Rob Watkins said that a fantastic extension of the Chalcus Lode backed up by an intense EM conductor is highly significant.

“This shows that the Chalcus lode is getting bigger and is completely open laterally and at depth below the current resource boundary,” Mr Watkins said.

“In addition, the continued results from Lady Fanny and the off end of hole conductor 500m to the north highlight the potential for further extensions to the deposit.

“We are also highly excited by the commencement of Carnaby’s maiden drilling program at the Rio Tinto Devoncourt JV where large scale intrusion hosted IOCG mineralisation is being targeted at Wimberu.”

Drilling also returned a pXRF recorded strike of 39m (TW~13m) @ 1.5% Cu Including 20m (TW~7m) @ 2.1% Cu from the prospect’s Boomerang Lode, while more post Mineral Resource results from the Lady Fanny prospect came in similarly thick and high-grade, with an off-hole conductor modelled around 500 metres north of the nearest hole.

And there is more to come from key emerging targets from Boomerang quartz lode mineralisation on the southwest side of the Binna Burra vein lode structure at depth and a tantalising geophysical and geochemical anomaly at Mount Hope Gap beckoning further investigation.

Carnaby’s maiden estimate came in at a hefty 315 kilotons of copper equivalent, a number it sees as an interim figure as it continues drilling into Greater Duchess, with Laddy Fanny and particularly its northern area the high priority for follow up drilling set to soon begin.
