Argosy (ASX:AGY) ramping up Rincon production
October 11, 2023As progression continues towards 2000tpa lithium carbonate production at Rincon, the Salta Mining Court has processed and approved Argosy Minerals‘ Environmental Impact Assessment submission for expedited 10,000tpa production facilities at the Argentinian lithium project.
The company would become only the second ASX-listed battery quality lithium carbonate producer with its first gram, and now awaits final official approval by Argentina’s Mining Secretary to bring its capabilities up to 12,000tpa.
But for now, work continues to optimise earlier stage operations and target continuous production, currently focused on modifying the piping and design to improve filtration rates and to facilitate a ramp up after confirming the capability to produce battery quality product with an average quality of 99.9 per cent.
“The Company is prioritising works to achieve continuous production operations at our 2,000tpa lithium carbonate operation. In addition, significant progress is being made with the pre-development works for the 10,000tpa operation expansion,” Argosy Managing Director Jerko Zuvela said.
“The Company is working toward finalising upcoming significant milestones that will support Argosy’s ambitions and near-term growth phase to fully develop the Rincon Lithium Project.”
Argosy is continuing to prepare for a final investment decision with scope definition and conceptual engineering as it ensures operational readiness for construction of the 10,000tpa facility.
The company’s senior executives alongside its Argentine partners at Puma and a representative from a potential strategic group held a meeting with top Salta government officials to ensure effective finalisation of EIA approvals, and Argosy now awaits the final Mining Secretary approval for its larger ambitions of production.
