Maximus (ASX:MXR) make the grade at Misho

March 21, 2023 0 By Rueben Hale

Maximus Resources have hit shallow, high-grade nickel, copper and platinum group element mineralisation at its exciting Misho prospect discovery,  just a kilometre from  Estrella Resources’ high-grade 1A nickel mine in Western Australia’s world-class Kambalda district.

The first hole from the first pass programme intersected 20m @ 0.5% Ni, 492ppm Cu, 126ppb PGE from 10m, including 4m @ 0.9% Ni, 1336ppm Cu, 238ppb PGE from 10m, while elevated readings in the weathered zone suggesting a potential nickel sulphide origin at depth.

Maximus Managing Director Tim Wither said initial results surpassed the company’s expectations.

“It is exciting at this early-stage exploration programme, to intersect strong nickel intervals and highly anomalous copper and PGEs, suggesting a nickel sulphide origin rather than lateritic supergene enrichment of nickel, indicating the potential discovery of a fertile mineralised komatiite channel,” Mr Wither said.

“The results are a fantastic start for the Company’s renewed nickel exploration programme and give us confidence in continuing drill testing many more prospective nickel targets across the highly fertile Spargoville tenements,” he added.

Exemplified by the Kambalda mine and its processor lying just 25 kilometres from Misho, the nickel region is home to several mines exceeding 100,000 tonnes and now host to a Maximus tenement package considered highly prospective for Kambalda-style komatiite-hosted nickel sulphide mineralisation, with the location of the komatiite basal contact associated with Ni-Cu-PGEs in the regolith effectively defined.

Cashed up and ready to explore, Maximus will begin a follow-up 1200 metre RC programme at Misho in the coming weeks as more assays are returned from a 4250m AC campaign covering several priority areas of its Spargoville tenements.
