Critical Resources (ASX:CRR) defines 2km gold-antimony corridor at Amoco
September 19, 2025Critical Resources (ASX:CRR) has sharpened the drill-ready credentials of its Amoco project in New South Wales, with a soil geochemistry survey outlining a gold-antimony corridor extending more than two kilometres.
The findings add a new layer of conviction to the company’s exploration model and set the stage for a maiden drill program due to commence within weeks.
Highlights
-
Soil assays returned up to 351 ppm arsenic, 21 ppb gold and 14.65 ppm antimony over a +2 km strike.
-
Rock chips confirmed high-grade samples of gold up to 17.9 g/t, antimony to 0.7% and silver to 80 g/t.
-
RC drill rig mobilising 29 September for maiden drilling program.
-
Amoco sits 19km from Larvotto’s Hillgrove antimony-gold mine and 14km from Koonenberry Gold’s Enmore project
The survey, conducted across a three by two kilometre grid, collected 364 soil samples and defined coherent anomalies in gold, antimony and arsenic that align closely with the dominant north-east to south-west structures of the New England Fold Belt, a region with a long history of orogenic gold and antimony deposits.
What distinguishes Amoco is the strength of its multi-element response, where gold anomalies coincide with elevated antimony and arsenic to provide textbook geochemical vectors that reinforce the presence of a structurally controlled mineral system.
Local silver anomalies add further weight, creating a layered pathfinder suite that not only validates the company’s geological model but also highlights the potential scale of a mineralised corridor.
The project is also significant within its broader geological context, situated in a belt already known for hosting major gold-antimony deposits.
Just 19 kilometres away, Larvotto Resources is advancing the Hillgrove antimony-gold project, while to the west Koonenberry Gold’s Enmore project has produced encouraging exploration results.
Together, they highlight the fertility of this corner of the New England Fold Belt, where multiple deposits have been tapped over decades.
Chief executive Tim Wither says the work to date has transformed Amoco from an intriguing anomaly into a compelling drill target.
“The soil sampling results highlight mineralised trends over a +2km strike and encouragingly aligned with the interpreted structures, delivering several robust drill targets,” he says. “Amoco represents a compelling drill target within the Armidale region’s rich antimony-gold production history”
With approvals secured and a contractor locked in, an RC rig is scheduled to arrive on site on 29 September, with drilling to commence in early October.
Beyond Amoco, Critical Resources is also working through approvals at its nearby Mayview prospect, another gold-antimony target within the Halls Peak project area.
The company’s broader portfolio extends offshore, anchored by the Mavis Lake lithium project in Ontario, Canada, which hosts an 8Mt resource grading 1.07% Li₂O.
Together, these assets provide Critical Resources with exposure to both critical battery materials and precious metals markets, while the maiden drill program at Amoco will deliver the first subsurface test of what is shaping up as a robust gold-antimony system.
A successful outcome would not only elevate the project’s profile but also underscore the potential for further discoveries across the broader Halls Peak ground, setting the stage for a closely watched quarter as the drill bit prepares to turn.
