Catalina Resources (ASX:CTN) strikes early paydirt in the Central Yilgarn

August 5, 2025 Off By MarketOpen

In the dusty heart of Western Australia’s Central Yilgarn, Catalina Resources (ASX:CTN) is off to a golden start at its underexplored Yerilgee Project, and the numbers are already catching the eye of those with a nose for early-stage upside.

Highlights

  • Rock chip assays up to 84 g/t gold at the Snowflake Prospect

  • Confirmation of mineralisation near historic high-grade aircore intercepts

  • Ongoing heritage clearance and follow-up drilling in the pipeline

The Snowflake Prospect, sitting within a previously neglected corner of the Central Yilgarn, is proving to be more than just another speck on the map.

Catalina Resources first-pass mapping and sampling campaign has delivered gold values as high as 84.1 grams per tonne from rock chips taken across quartz-veined structures.

While only 14 samples were collected during this early stage, five of them returned values above 0.5 g/t , a noteworthy result for a greenfields exploration play that has yet to be systematically drilled by its current owners.

The geological context is also encouraging, with Snowflake hosting an 800m by 200m gold and bismuth soil anomaly, where mineralisation occurs within a felsic porphyritic host and intersects north–south structures.

The site is located near previous drilling from Dreadnought Resources in 2023, which returned intercepts of 19 metres at 1.9 g/t gold, including a high-grade section of 4 metres at 8.5 g/t gold.

Despite these historic hits, no follow-up drilling was ever conducted and Ross Cotton, Executive Director of Catalina Resources, is optimistic about what lies ahead:

“These early results confirm our confidence in the project’s potential and provide a compelling foundation for further drill targeting.”

Indeed, this new phase of exploration is not occurring in a vacuum, with Catalina balancing its attention between the Yerilgee Project and its Laverton Project, where follow-up drilling is already underway.

Drilling at Snowflake will proceed once the heritage clearance process, now formally initiated with Traditional Owners is completed.

Importantly, the company has not cherry-picked data. All material results from the sampling program have been reported, with cautionary notes provided on isolated grades.

Catalina’s approach also reflects a long-term commitment to responsible exploration.

“Catalina remains committed to conducting all on-ground activities in accordance with statutory requirements and in consultation with Traditional Owners,” the company noted.

With tenements in good standing and a project portfolio spanning gold, base metals, lithium and iron ore, Catalina is positioning itself as a nimble player in Western Australia’s mineral-rich terrain.

The Snowflake assays may just be a preview of more to come.

Strategic Outlook
While early days, Catalina’s disciplined groundwork, proximity to historic intercepts, and proactive landholder engagement suggest a methodical pathway to discovery.

Investors watching for WA’s next gold story may want to keep an eye on this emerging chapter in the Central Yilgarn.
