Adelong Gold (ASX:ADG) confirms high-grade antimony intercepts at Lauriston, expanding multi-commodity potential
July 11, 2025Adelong Gold Limited (ASX:ADG) has announced promising high-grade antimony sampling results from the Comet prospect within its Lauriston Gold Project in Victoria.
The results confirm the presence of significant antimony mineralisation occurring alongside gold, providing fresh momentum to the company’s exploration activities and reinforcing Lauriston’s potential as a multi-commodity project.
The findings highlight key geological similarities to Victoria’s renowned high-grade gold-antimony systems and open the door to new development pathways.
In this Q&A, Managing Director Ian Holland addresses key investor questions, offering insights into the importance of the discovery, how it aligns with Adelong Gold’s growth strategy, and the next steps planned to unlock further value.
What is the significance of identifying high-grade antimony alongside gold at the Lauriston Gold Project?
The recent systematic sampling at our Lauriston Gold Project has revealed the presence of high-grade antimony within the same structures that host gold mineralisation, which is a highly encouraging development.
These results come from previously drilled core at the Comet prospect, where sampling returned standout assays such as 0.89 metres at 2.24% antimony and 1.00 grams per tonne gold, including narrower zones grading up to 10.3% antimony.
This is the first time antimony assays have been systematically carried out on this core, despite visual observations of stibnite during initial logging.
The presence of both metals adds a new layer of potential economic value and supports the interpretation of Lauriston as an epizonal gold-antimony system, which is consistent with known styles of mineralisation in the region.
“The presence of these high-grade Sb zones at Comet, confirmed by sampling undertaken on previous drilling, underscores the strong potential for a multi-commodity outcome at Lauriston.”
How do these results compare to deposits like Fosterville, and what does this mean for Adelong Gold’s exploration strategy?
One of Lauriston’s key advantages is its position within the same geological corridor as Agnico Eagle’s Fosterville Gold Mine, which is one of the highest-grade and lowest-cost gold operations globally.
Both Lauriston and Fosterville are hosted within Ordovician sedimentary rocks and share structural characteristics such as fault-hosted quartz veining.
The confirmation of antimony mineralisation at Lauriston aligns well with these geological models.
While we are careful not to overstate comparisons, the similarities help to inform our exploration approach.
Our strategy is to continue building detailed geological models incorporating both gold and antimony data, which will guide the next phase of targeted drilling.
“The Lauriston Project spans six exploration licences… and is hosted within the same Ordovician sedimentary rocks of the Selwyn Block as Fosterville and shares key structural, geological, and mineralisation features.”
What are the next steps Adelong Gold plans to take following these positive sampling results?
Our immediate focus is to expand systematic antimony sampling along the Comet-Trojan structural corridor, particularly in areas where historical drilling logged stibnite but no antimony assays were completed.
This additional data will help us better understand the distribution of antimony and how it relates to the existing gold system.
In parallel, we are finalising an integrated gold-antimony geological model to refine our understanding of the mineralised structures.
This model will directly inform our follow-up drilling program, for which planning and permitting are already underway. The aim is to test for both lateral and depth extensions of the known mineralisation in a systematic and cost-effective manner.
“Together with our high-grade gold results, this adds a valuable new dimension to the project as we plan further exploration and metallurgical work.”
What makes antimony an attractive addition to Lauriston’s potential resource profile?
Antimony is classified as a critical mineral due to its role in a wide range of industrial and technological applications, including flame retardants, military alloys, and emerging energy storage solutions.
With over 80% of global supply sourced from China, there is growing strategic interest in alternative sources.
For Lauriston, the confirmed presence of high-grade antimony provides an opportunity to diversify the potential economic value of the project beyond gold alone.
The grades identified are meaningful and warrant further investigation to assess the scale and continuity of this mineralisation and this could open up additional development options and potential future market appeal.
How does Lauriston fit into Adelong Gold’s broader portfolio and growth strategy?
The Lauriston Gold Project is an important part of Adelong Gold’s strategy to develop a diversified portfolio of exploration and development assets across precious and critical minerals.
Alongside Lauriston, we are progressing our flagship Adelong Goldfield Project in New South Wales, where gold production is imminent through our partnership with Great Divide Mining.
We also hold the Apollo Gold and Antimony Project in Victoria, which similarly shows gold-antimony potential, and a prospective lithium portfolio in Brazil’s key lithium provinces.
Lauriston’s high-grade gold results, combined with the newly confirmed antimony mineralisation, enhance its strategic importance within our broader portfolio and give us multiple avenues for creating shareholder value.
“Drilling has confirmed multiple stacked zones of auriferous quartz veining beneath the main fault, offering compelling potential for depth extensions and repeat lodes.”
Unlocking Multi-Commodity Value at Lauriston
The confirmation of high-grade antimony alongside gold at the Lauriston Gold Project marks a meaningful step in Adelong Gold’s strategy to build value through careful, data driven exploration.
With a clear plan to expand sampling, update geological models, and progress to targeted drilling, the company is well positioned to unlock additional potential from this underexplored yet highly prospective region.
Supported by a broader portfolio of gold and lithium assets, Adelong Gold remains focused on delivering sustainable growth and long term value creation for its shareholders through disciplined exploration and development.
