Lord Resources (ASX:LRD) discovers compelling pegmatites at Horse RocksJanuary 5, 2024
Lord Resources has uncovered multiple stacked pegmatites with extensive orientation at its Horse Rocks Lithium Project, located 20km south of Coolgardie, just 8km from Mineral Resources Mt Marion mine.
It is an exciting find with the rocks ideally exhibiting strong fractionation and vectoring towards the northwest, with little outcrop, and ongoing assessment of pegmatite swarm orientation and fractionation.
The ground surrounding the Horse Rocks Lithium Project is held by Mineral Resources Limited (E15/1599, EEL53, EEL59) and Essential Metals Limited (E15/1710).
The discovery of extensive pegmatites with high lithium concentration is a significant breakthrough for Lord Resources Limited and could revolutionise their business.
“Drilling to date has confirmed that the swarm of stacked pegmatites at Horse Rocks extends over an area of at least 1,100m by 500m, with the fractionation increasing towards the northwest,” Managing Director Barnaby Egerton-Warburton said.
“The next exploration stage will likely focus on the soil-covered northwestern extension of the swarm,” he added.
In Nov 2023, drilling at Horse Rocks Lithium Proj confirmed continuous down-dip anomalous LCT pegmatites with elevated lithium values. Low ratios of potassium to rubidium and potassium to caesium in the pegmatite intrusions suggest lithium mineralisation. The magnetic survey indicated non-mineralised pegmatites and low-iron dolerites.
Further exploration at the Horse Rocks Lithium Project will include mapping and rock sampling to the north and west of the central drilling area.
