Impact (ASX:IMP) hit significant REEs at Arkun

January 4, 2024 Off By Rueben Hale

Impact Minerals’ soil sampling has returned 5,880ppm TREO and up to 21% Nd+Pr at its newly identified Hyperion prospect, part of its Arkun rare earth project in Western Australia.

The vast anomaly covers at least 3 km2 at greater than 1,000 ppm TREO and is open along strike to the northwest and southeast.

Excitingly, the soil anomaly is developed in accessible weathered granite and is a prime target for a large clay-hosted REE deposit.

The Impact team is understandably upbeat as the grand nite covers a further area of about 17,0 km2, which has yet to be explored.

“The discovery of the Hyperion Prospect is a significant breakthrough in exploring the Arkun Project, which has so far focused on nickel, platinum, and copper,” Impact Minerals Managing Director Dr Mike Jones said.

“The extraction characteristics will help guide resource definition drilling later in the year,” he added.

The exploration potential of the project has increased with the discovery of REEs. Initial drill testing and bulk sampling will be conducted in the upcoming field season to evaluate the extraction characteristics of REEs.

Two new prospects, Swordfish and Horseshoe, show promise for REE mineralization at the Arkun project—drilling and sampling for metallurgical tests planned for the next two quarters.
