Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) confirms fertile ground in Canada

Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) confirms fertile ground in Canada

January 19, 2024 Off By Rueben Hale

Cazaly Resources has confirmed that the Sundown Lithium project, located in the heart of James Bay’s lithium province in Québec, is fertile.

The company will focus on target areas and vectors of the 260km2 tenement, based on pegmatites where rock chips have indicated the highest probability of LCT (lithium, cesium, tantalum) mineralisation.

The Sundown project lies between Allkem’s  James Bay deposit and Patriot Battery Metals’ Corvette deposit.

Cazaly Managing Director Tara French says the rock chips confirm the fertile nature of the granites.

“We have merely scratched the project surface given that we have only tested ~1% of the project area. Further mapping and surface sampling will be required to adequately test the 260km2 area of the property for LCT pegmatites,” Ms French said.

The company is also progressing with its Carb Lake REE project in the Red Lake district of Ontario, following the appropriate government approvals and First Nations agreements.

About the Exploration

In late October 2023, Cazaly Resources collected 304 rock chip samples from various locations in the Sundown project area. The analytical results indicate that the Gladman suite’s pegmatitic granites are fertile. Several ratios, including Rb/Sr, Nb/Ta, and Mg/Li, were examined to determine fractionation. The ratios of less than 8 for Rb/Sr and Nb/Ta and less than 10 for Mg/Li confirm the findings. The results also show well-constrained anomalies in the north and west regions that are open along the strike. Although the total sample coverage is sparse, this is the first geochemical classification of the rock units sampled in the project area. These findings can be used to identify areas with the highest potential to host LCT pegmatites.
